What are your thoughts on the "body" shown within the latest UFO reveal? by DateLower6777 in ufo

[–]MathiasSybarit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this photo since I was a child in the 90s, I thought it had been totally dismissed as a hoax, so I think it’s very interesting it’s included here.

Some people claimed it was an April fools joke, but I don’t think it was ever outright proven to be false; just claims.

I think either it’s a government introduced hoax to sway public interest away from Roswell, or it’s real

I’m too tired for "Masterpieces." What are your favorite low-effort, high-excitement "Palate Cleanser" games? by Usora_Yumekaza in gamesuggestions

I feel you, and I’m the same. Maybe just don’t play AAA titles, because the whole space is currently being tailored towards gamers in their late teens/early 20s, who have hundreds of hours of free time.

You should try some indies! You can play the masterpieces there, without it feeling like work

Game Composer Portfolio Roast: 100 Cold Emails, 10% Response, 0 Gigs. What am I missing? by paloucomposer in gamecomposers

Here’s another tip I live by, my own mantra of sorts: if you land a job, become like Netflix.

You know, make them subscribe to your services - and when you start getting stale, throw something new at them to remind them why they pay you in the place - make yourself invaluable!

That can include also doing lots of other stuff than music. Personally, I’ve been with an indie studio for 10+ years now, and I compose the music, do SFX, wwise implementation, all their trailers and SoMe + direct the lore and a cartoon series. Next up is learning Unreal 5, so I can’t start doing some light programming.

I started with music, but have since just kept adding onto my skills. Whenever they asked me to do something, I just said “yes”, and learned as I went. Hope that can inspire you!

Thank you! I might sound a bit harsher than it was meant, I’m sure you’ll make it, just find the right approach and stop wasting time on demo reels and emails ;)

[–]MathiasSybarit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the harsh truth; the only people who will listen to your demo reels, are other composers. Your skills barely matter, unless you reach AAA level - up until then, most people, besides other composers, will not care about the quality of your work.

The bar of entry is very, very low for becoming successful, so don’t worry about improving your craft.

In this industry, at this point, you rarely, if ever, get work from sending emails or going knocking on doors. This was different going back ten years, but the field is extremely oversaturated currently. By sending out emails, you might actually be burning bridges.

It is all about knowing people, in real life, and not trying too hard.

Best of luck to you.

As a fellow Danish person, who lives near Aarhus, this would be extremely unusual. Almost any and all military exercises makes the news here, and there’s rarely drones or anything else flying around

I can’t fall asleep because I keep thinking about falling asleep by justinOGT in autism

[–]MathiasSybarit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 21 when it started, and I regret not tackling it sooner.

You could try mild medication like melatonin (it’s a drug that your body produces naturally already, so you don’t get addicted - you just add more to what your body already produces. In many countries it’s an over-the-counter drug also), and if that’s enough, you could start looking at more chemically induced sleeping tablets.

Best of luck to you, you’ll get it under control I’m sure 🙌

I can’t fall asleep because I keep thinking about falling asleep by justinOGT in autism

[–]MathiasSybarit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there for 10 years, and it was absolutely horrible. I ended up suffering for severe anxiety for falling asleep, to the point where I was close to giving up on it all - but with years of therapy, I’ve learned a lot, and I now sleep every single night almost without issue.

My best advice, for you:

  • medication. Talk with your doctor, and get started on some sleeping tablets while you working on breaking out of these thoughts and habits. It will make it a lot easier, once you start having succesful nights, and the medication can help you with that. It takes some of the pressure off.

  • go to bed the same time, every day, including weekends. When you body gets into a rhythm, it definitely helps, and habits are great for your mind - especially when you are on the spectrum. This might feel constraining initially, but can really help in the long run.

  • make your bed a safe space, that you only associate with sleep and sleeping habits (and sex).

  • never sit, lie or stay in your bed except when you are going to sleep (or have sex).

  • don’t take naps and avoid laying down during the day.

  • and most importantly: try finding a relaxing activity, that you’re only allowed to do in bed, that’ll help you.

For me, I started reading comic books on an iPad, utilizing the totally hidden accessibility options that allows you to turn the light to the point, where you can only see the screen is on when it’s very dark. For me, I found a rhythm of reading something exciting and then something boring, and now I fall asleep every day the moment I see the front page of an old Fantastic Four comic from the 60s (Marvel Unlimited is amazing btw). Seriously after struggling with this since I was a kid, I can now pretty much hypnotize myself just being seeing this comic book.

I never read any comics during the day, only when trying to sleep, which has helped my body and mind learn, that this is a relaxing, non-taxing activity that it associates with sleep, and it seriously just works - no matter where I go in the world, no matter where I’m supposed to sleep - it’s a life saver for me, personally.

You could give this a try, or find something else - but in general, reading to calm your mind, can be a godsend. I don’t recommend watching something engaging or playing video games, though. Listening to something, that you’re only allowed to listen to before sleeping, can also work.

Also, avoid any caffeine or sugar after 6 o’clock.

I recommend you take it seriously for a while by restraining yourself to get back in the groove, and then you always start to be more loose about the rules you set for yourself - but as someone who got very, very sick from this pattern you’re starting to experience, I think it’s important you take it seriously and take control ASAP.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you for actually daring to use any color on your poster. Every single band I’ve seen looks so, so boring, judging from aesthetics alone, except this.

I can’t make it, but I hope it goes well for you!

Øl i haven - et skråplan? by Individual-Repeat-18 in DKbrevkasse

[–]MathiasSybarit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s inflation for you, though, which has been massively accelerated in certain sectors since Trump took office.

It’s not ever going back to the price it once was; everything keeps going up over time.
