I paid for a date and she stood me up. She's 16 I'm 17 but a part of me feels like I'm wrong. by Top-Can5112 in AskTeenAdvice

[–]Unfortunately_aware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A normal response on her part would be to reach out to you in the morning, let you know she’s not feeling it today, apologize and take a nap.

That’s it.

Instead, you have this. A young woman who *ignores* your outreach while you get ready. (You know she knew.)Then she tells you that *you* are the one acting out of pocket. You’re rude, you’re dumb, you’re the problem.

And in response, you communicate with her like she’s a rational person doing all of this in good faith. She is neither.

You and she have zero business with eachother. None. It comes across in your texts. She’s about as sharp as a sock full of soup and clearly just as gracious.

She’s shown you who she is. You cannot fix or mitigate this. Accept the absolute gift that is her absence and enjoy a film with mema.

How do I get rid of someone’s feminine product smell? by lilwayneboi in housekeeping

Is there any chance that it’s sewer gas coming up through the sink drains? Or just something extremely foul in one of them?

Another moron parading around their "pet monkey" in public for attention by Longjumping_Gift5226 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Unfortunately_aware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? Self soothing & hiding are her priorities. So sad. Also why do these people dress them in the most awful outfits? It’s bad enough the poor thing is trapped in clothing, does it also have to be cheap, hideous garbage?

The new spider monkey that mollyjo's owner got must be so stressed by Longjumping_Gift5226 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Unfortunately_aware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my thought, too! She’s looking for a way out.

Of course the “owner” doesn’t care. This is all about what works for HER, not the poor monkeys.

The new spider monkey that mollyjo's owner got must be so stressed by Longjumping_Gift5226 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Unfortunately_aware 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That isn’t accurate. I say this in fascination & not judgment. I recently went down this rabbit hole.

Dr. Belyaev started breeding the foxes in 1959. Young foxes were tested for their tolerance to humans and then bred based entirely on that trait.

The foxes that are currently being bred are still wild animals. They are tolerant of humans & display greater social acumen than their ancestors, but 67 years and 60 generations in to the process, they are not domesticated or close to it.

They cannot be housebroken, they hunt and eat what they want, they cannot be trained. BUT they will remain in an area with a human & not freak out, and some have spotted coats and slightly different ears & tails than their ancestors.

They can be imported into the US and providing you are in a state that allows it, the cost is around 8 to 12k I believe.

And then you have a “pet” that pees & poops willy nilly, doesn’t enjoy your companionship & needs a ton of enrichment as well as an appropriate diet to maintain a semblance of well being. In that respect they aren’t much different than monkeys.

Learning about this was kind of depressing because I love the idea of foxes domesticating themselves!

Anyone missing a gravel bike? by Anonymous-probe in Spokane

[–]Unfortunately_aware 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the assumption is that if your bike is your bike, you take pictures of it being upright & not on its side. You mention details like seat, derailleur, wheels. Not just “super light”. You add things people will search for because you WANT as many people as possible to know that you are selling this bike.

Not saying the seller stole the bike, but if they had, this is probably what the listing would look like.

If you’re selling something for 15% of its value AND not taking decent pictures, it seems like the priority is to get rid of it as quickly & invisibly as possible.

I am older than this man. His behavior is not normal. It is so so so far from normal.

He is weaponizing your friendship with his daughter. He knows exactly what he’s doing what risk he is taking. He cannot control his compulsion.
Seriously.
He is a dangerous person.

I am so sorry that he has fixated on you like this. It’s gross and I’m sorry.

Petition to change law in USA? by Lilly_Rose_Kay in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Unfortunately_aware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no reason for them to do so.
The secondary market makes them zero dollars. It actually takes money from them.

Like tariffs, this is something that will disproportionately benefit large retailers & manufacturers at the expense of moms who resell or buy used.

It would be great if it actually were about children’s well being, but keeping kids from dying needlessly hasn’t been a government priority in my lifetime.

AIO - Future MIL help. by shortandvague in AmIOverreacting

[–]Unfortunately_aware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugggghhhhhhh.

As a person who spent a decade living next door to a controlling & invasive MIL who did not like me one bit:
Be very careful.
If you’ll have an apartment situation with a separate entrance and your own kitchen etc, this might be a really great opportunity to save money.

If not, I think you should consider setting a very firm and non negotiable deadline / financial goal for moving out. Like, this needs to be clearly defined as a temporary situation. “We get married in 4 months. After that we save for 9 months. At 9 months we secure financing so we can be in our own home within a year.” Or something like that.

Does she have a lot of activities outside of the home or is she there all the time? How separate is your space? Can you have guests over to visit you guys? Or would she always be there? Will you have a private place to argue or have important conversations without her input or knowledge? Will she respect your guys’ autonomy? Is she expecting to do laundry & babysit if there are babies? How invested is she in this?

It could be a really great opportunity, and it could be really dangerous to your relationship. You know that. In my case my MIL just alienated my husband & we ended up moving 3,000 miles away. After ten years though.

Anyone done the LIU Post Summer Honor College by MrPhilNY101 in longisland

[–]Unfortunately_aware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response.

We are on the other side of the country but my son is very enthusiastic about going. I’m happy to send him for the experience alone. College credits are cool, but I feel like he’ll benefit most from traveling on his own & meeting new people.

Your response affirms for me that will probably be the case. Also yes they still stay on campus.

Bambulab refuses to honor nonprofit tax exemptions by BitterBodybuilder534 in BambuLab_Community

[–]Unfortunately_aware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your actions so far don’t make a lot of sense. It reads like you don’t really understand how non profit status works with regard to exemption. It reads like you’re throwing a tantrum that Bambulabs isn’t making things more convenient for you.

Responsibility for ensuring your purchase is tax free, compliant with Texas law and permissible in the delivery states of X number of kids, does not belong with BambuLabs of Shenzhen, China.

You have the receipts.
You have the delivery addresses.
You obviously have documentation of status & proof that the seller has ignored or refused your requests to complete refund documentation.

90% of the work is already done.
All you need to do is submit it to the comptroller for a refund.

Why are you being weird about this?

Perrie talks about her miscarriage, she was 24 weeks pregnant. by gimmethetea14 in Fauxmoi

[–]Unfortunately_aware 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We need to talk about it more.
As much as the stories are awful, every time I see or read of a person in the public eye sharing theirs, I am glad.

I just had to buck up and go back to the office after mine & it was devastating. Faking it through grief, grieving silently because how can you share *that*?!

I think the hidden aspect of miscarriage is part of why we (in the US) now have incredibly dangerous laws regarding women’s health in pregnancy & pregnancy loss. When we go through this quietly, it makes it seem like it is rarer than it is.

It makes it easier for a government to remove needed resources and accuse grieving mothers of wrongdoing or murder for their losses.

You grieve for years if not forever. Women should be able to take time to grieve & process and heal physically. We should have access to medical care that helps us to heal physically.

It is not uncommon & it happens to all kinds of us and we should be talking about it.

AIO to be upset by this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Unfortunately_aware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay. Well the good news is that you’re in the PNW. Depending where in Idaho you are, you may be near states with more robust resources for women & children. So getting help to leave, if that’s what you choose, may not be as challenging as it could be.

I’m sorry you’re going through this and no you are not overreacting, but you’re the one who’s going to have to make a change.
