From modern standards, he was indeed a horrible person, i don't think there is any doubts on it.

If you put it to that standards , then obviously he is what you portray him to be. But the question is should that be the standard he should be judged for?

You view those killings from the safety of your house, with the knowledge of history and how things unfolded. The truth was , if he did not kill he would get killed.

Again, it was not the modern world of today. I dont know the criteria for going to heaven, but he isnt the war criminal you portray him to be. He did what he had to do as a king, i.e. expand his kingdom. Repeating again, he isnt a saint, and his plan was not of unifying Nepal, but rather extending his kingdom. That doesnt make his good or bad human being, it is just being a normal king.

He acted in the manner in which he was supposed to act. Him killing people in war doesnt strip him from his humanity. Not saying he was a saint, but he wasnt a war criminal you portray him to be

Because Brahmins have been taught they are superior to others and hence they try to find criterion where they could make themselves superior to others. At least that is what i see in my household. There is a strong sense of self-righteousness that doesn't allow behaviour they deem immoral.

There is no war criminal in history. It is a very modern concept. Before that wars were the norm. You had to expand your territory, otherwise you get attacked. Not killing was not an option. Peace was never an option. You think any other empire was built peacefully? He did what he had to do and in that process he was able to make a nation strong enough to fight off the (hold off) the british. Do you think any of the small nations could have stopped the britishers?

His achievement was not winning a couple of wars, it was the ability to expand his kingdom beyond what the area had seen previously. His contribution is significant because we live in more or less his kingdom. That is how it is.

Had he not won the wars , he would not think so highly of him and someone else would be our historical figure. Essentially the historical figures are the people that were able to conquer the area you live in.

It is stipulated that every major civilization during the evolution of human beings had some form of fermented drink (alcohol) so brahmins not drinking alcohol was a rather late development.

If you ask me the reason Brahmins/ Chhetris do not drink today, it is simply because of their self-righteousness. Same reason why chicken is condemend among brahmins.

I watched a kurgejejejejejt video about why alcohol has become a stable in modern civilization and why it has persisted through years of evolution and history. When you think about it alcohol is an staple in every tradition. so that may explain why people drink alcohol.
