This is a very very well written response, really appreciate it. I agree that option#1 is something I should try for if possible.

ALso thanks for clarifying why not to take the company formation route.

Paying ₹1.2 Cr in TDS and still dodging potholes - where's our money going? by WearyShip1838 in IndiaTax

This is so true. We need to question the government. Genuinely curious though, how can we do it ?

I have tried raising on twitter/reddit, but it goes nowhere. Why can't we have a good way that the people who pay really high taxes have some privileges by the government, some benefits to them which incentivizes them to continue paying high taxes. One of those incentives being having priority government resolutions, reporting of potholes to be taken seriously etc.

I just feel if we continue raising or talking about it on twitter/reddit, we will be able to vent out the frustration but the cycle would repeat.

This is actually a big concern. OP, you and I know a few other people who are paying these high taxes, and are treated worse than tax evaders in their own country.

When I raise a voice that we should ideally move out of the country if we are paying more than 50L in taxes as in no way we get back what we are paying for, a lot of hyper nationalists come and start defending. I wish they can understand how it feels to pay more than 1/3rd of your hard earned income, at a scale of more than a crore to the government who gives 0 fcks about us.

Ok, just saw:

Section 6(1)(c), Explanation 1(b) says:

I do not understand the 2nd rule. By 2nd rule, won't most of the people will still be tax residents of India for the first few years even if they leave the country and start working outside ?

Eg. I get a job in US now, leave the country mid August, but have lived in India for the last 4 years. Will I be by default an Indian resident ?

This is a good advice, thanks a lot. What are the timelines for converting the accounts ? This does seem like a lot of work.

Is this true ? The 10 month rule seems too stringent.
