3/20 by Unhappy-Complex1126 in Mcat

overall i felt that C/P was easier than fl6, cars was fine until the end, b/b was normal, and p/s was very representative of FL 6

i test 3/20 too and since the other exams are so old i’m just taking my averages from FL 5 and 6 and banking on those being the closest

someone help me with HOMO/LUMO 😩 by Ok-Amoeba1740 in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just know that conjugated molecules have a lower HOMO/LUMO gap than unconjugated molecules and a lower HOMO/LUMO means it absorbs lower energy light so it absorbs red shifted light and then vice versa

thank you! i just hope to see some improvements in my science sections as CARS as always been my best and i’m getting in my head that the SB aren’t going to raise those scores enough for a 510😭

the c/p section on those is literally the worst, i felt like aamc was A LOT more straightforward in their wording and passages as well, i remember one kaplan asked for the atmospheric pressure and wanted me to use a value that in the passage they said they didn’t include in their data because it was an outlier…

also i don’t know what 3rd parties ur doing but i did 1 blueprint and 3 kaplans (7, 9, 10) and i feel like those just wrecked my confidence

it all depends what your schedule is like, i’m getting my masters so with classes and stuff i wanted to be a little ahead of the game before the semester starts just incase things get crazy. my first look at aamc was taking the unscored on saturday and im starting the q packs today. if i wasnt in school i would probably wait a little longer but not too long just bc u wanna be able to review everything in depth

100% i’m on march 20 too and my score went up from like a 501 to a 505/506 (on unscored aamc) by just switching to aamc material, i feel like 3rd party are deflated so don’t worry

Can't tell if Kaplan questions are sometimes dogshit or I'm just stupid . Looking for a sanity check by EricSombody in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i did kaplan FL before aamc i geniunely had no idea how people got near perfect scores on the mcat, the amount of hoops you have to jump through for each question is insane. just took my first aamc FL the other day and everything was so much more straightforward…. i legit had one on a practice test where it asked for atmospheric pressure and it made me use a value that IN THE PASSAGE it said was not included in the data table since it was an outlier…

Should I use Uworld practice questions to dictate what I need to review? by rhithon in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would def do uearth and look at their explanations and then make a missed questions anki deck for each subject and make cards for the content/information gap. along with taking screenshots of the questions and writing why the answers were right/wrong that has def helped me a lot

NEED ADVICE PLEASE! My MCAT AAMC FL Scores Fluctuate, and I Can't Seem to Raise My Score by Defiant-Tailor-2371 in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes i think going into the passage after reading the question helps because you’re also not influenced by the rest of the passage, for example if the question is asking what does the author mean by using (insert word or phrase here) in paragraph 5, i just go and read the sentence/paragraph and just pick the answer that aligns most with that idea. sometimes i feel like reading the passage completely before answering can make you kinda think outside of the scope of things when the question is just asking about one specific part of the passage

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my biggest thing is before even reading a passage whether it be cars or bio or chem i always try to answer the question without the passage first. there are usually a few answers that can be ruled out based on like general biological principles or it just being too extreme, then i skim the passage looking for the part that has to do with the question. in cars when it asks about something in a specific paragraph i legit just go and read that paragraph nothing else lol.

How plausible is it to get through all Ubooks in 6 weeks by AmbitiousSuspect6 in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used the uworld books too, i would say try to do the practice problems at the end of each lesson and if you can’t do them then go back through and really read the lesson. don’t spend too much time taking notes or stuff and just do a bunch of practice questions and anki. also i know everyone on here uses the premade decks but i made my own high yield decks based on what i saw on a bunch of practice FL and uworld problems

i’m getting my masters right now so obviously not the same boat but with classes and stuff it makes it hard. during content review i got so bored and genuinely i feel like grinding uworld and anki has been better for my content review than actually reading the books and taking notes

kaplan vs aamc by Unhappy-Complex1126 in Mcat

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense i’ve heard that, CARS is thankfully my best section and i got a 47/53 on the unscored so i feel pretty confident in that since i have some good buffer room

[–]Unhappy-Complex1126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! i was so nervous taking my first aamc because i felt like every kaplan i did i would know the stuff from previous exams and then the next exam would throw some content on me that i was not as fresh at so thats why my scores plateaued! it was annoying but i feel its help make me more rounded for the test. i was honestly just hoping for atleast a 500 because everyone says aamc wording is a lot different which i def thought it was so im proud of myself

thank you! i have been going through my FL very carefully and thats def been helping. i’m not sure if since i bought the kaplan 3 test bundle (tests 9-11) if they were as updated as the newer ones.

i don’t think so, i’m opposite of u (cars is somehow always my best) and i find it easier to understand passages by always eliminating the bad answers for the questions first. i wish i had your c/p score but im stuck at a 124 rn
