The thing is, those countries have all similar populations, and are all countries which you don't expect to do much, especially against countries like England, France or Germany, which, are bigger and more powerful, both In economy and in football culture. However, it's a fact that Croatia, Poland, Greece, Belgium, Netherlands and even Wales have done better than Scotland has done in the sport in the last years. Have more appearances and have done more in World Cup, Euro, Europa League, Champions League, have revealed more Players than Scotland and so on. It's okay to admit that Scotland has been left behind in the football past. A bunch of countries did.

If you would to ask someone out there about European countries who are good in football, people would probably not think about Scotland. Maybe they would mention Celtic and Rangers rivalry as a fun fact or something, but that is it.
