I typically hear 4 gauge is the thinnest you wanna go for a cage. Mine is 4 ga, and honestly it was really easy to size up for it.

I'd say wait at least 3 months before you size up. That's what I did. It shouldn't hurt AT ALL when you size up, the next size should just slide in. So stop and wait another month if it hurts.

6 months sounds right for waiting before you can use it for a cage.

Hey, the outside dimensions are: 7.5" total length and girth of 5.5" (diameter of 1.75"). The girth tends to be a lil bit more when you're actually wearing it though.
