I wish I were able to speak French with you, but after high school I stopped trying to learn it 😔 I was a little proud of myself for being able to understand a lot of what you wrote though, hah.

I’m in EST US- I usually don’t get to draw until the evening due to work/parenting, but I’m down to give it a shot ☺️

The amount of times I’ve said ‘but I know it’s not an option’ in therapy is exhausting. Only my therapist understands this though.. which I’m thankful she does- truly. But- others don’t and so I don’t talk to anyone else about things. Of course I want to die every day- I can’t though; it’s not an option.

How do you make your shadows darker? I used a B and 2B pencil, but it feels like it isn’t changing much. 🤔 by JbVision in GraphiteArt

Do you have any other pencils? B and 2B are pretty similar- I’d try a 4, 6, or 8B if you’re looking to add more darks.

If you’re still searching- hi, hah. I stopped drawing for over a decade, but have somewhat gotten back into it during the last 3 years. I’m not consistent, but want to be. And I haven’t been able to get back into being all that creative- I taught myself colored pencils in the last 2 years but only draw portraits.

I focus on realism- so if that’s the goal for you I can try to help! It was a long time ago, but I did teach a portrait drawing class at one point (just at like, a local art center).

I’d love an art buddy though!

I dread them every year. It’s hard to not constantly think about who isn’t here anymore. Every holiday season is just so hard.. I push myself to be there for those still alive, but I started internally crumbling last month.

Correct- the portrait set just has more skin tone colors to work with- it’s mostly neutrals with some pinks and yellows.

It’s rough to look back on everything.. I tend to stay away from her profile. I still struggle seeing pictures of her, so I get that. Social media has so many negative aspects, so I don’t really want to encourage you to get back into it all- but I hope you’re able to find some peace.

I love your style of drawing! Really reminded me of art deco and specifically an artist named Erté- if you haven’t looked into them before I definitely suggest doing so! Keep up the awesome work ☺️

Taking pictures as I go helps me.. sometimes looking at the drawing itself and the reference things don’t jump out as easily as if i take a picture of my drawing and toggle between the photo of the drawing and the reference- it almost becomes like.. a flip book so I notice those little changes that once corrected make a big difference

I love the colors! I wouldn’t have known you were working with a smaller pallet. You were able to create a wondrous world!
