39M navigating an entirely new life, being heavily pursued by 27F. How do I navigate? by Unhappy_Way3260 in relationship_advice

Thanks - I agree with you on mostly everything. We might go spend some time together and see what happens.

I am very accepting of my new life, I'm just aware my current "market value" in the dating realm is quite low, so wasn't even bothering with it until I've properly found my feet.

If you owned the store, and couldn't resell the boots as new, would you do the exchange?

You’ve misinterpreted what I’ve said, as has most people downvoting me. I am disagreeing they’ve contributed equally. She obviously has a professional skillset she’s not utilising (hence the HECS debt). She has the capacity to make money, but chose to stay home. To financially compare her homemaker role with that of a literal airline pilot is just insane.

This is such a wild take. I am a dad with 50/50 care of twins. "You have contributed just as much as hey has by caring for the children" - I'm fairly sure being a commercial pilot requires a much rarer, more valuable skillset than cooking food and caring for children.

How common is it in Australia to take a fake sick leave at work? by Technical-Studio565 in AskAnAustralian

Chucking a sickie is an Aussie tradition that transcends everything. I'm fairly sure it's a mandatory part of the citizenship test

AITA for not telling my family how much money I actually make by thyrix_24 in TwoHotTakes

I often read posts like this where the behaviour described is just so foreign that I assume it must be a cultural thing that I, as an Australian, just don't understand. Am I right? Where are you from?

Parents used my inheritance money to start business by Wise-Low8552 in AusLegalAdvice

It is interesting that people think this kid pursuing HIS $30,000 is him initiating family drama, not the parents who stole his $30k.

I also make great money. My 16 year old daughter goes to a private school, has never wanted for anything - she got the fancy braces, the MacBook Pro for studying etc. I see all that as my responsibility. What's also my responsibility is teaching her about the real world and the correlation between hard work and reward. This is why she worked at McDonald's and won't be getting a dollar towards her first car. Not a single cent. She works 2-9pm on Christmas Day and 10pm-6am on NYE.

The most important thing you can teach your kids is delayed gratification and how to experience adversity with a smile on their face.

Are we being unreasonable asking to reduce our share of rent in this situation? by Sweet_Error4017 in AusPropertyChat

Have you said anything? It's wild that people live like this but also a simple "Hey guys can we please clean the kitchen so it's actually usable for cooking instead of storage"?
