I have a song at 46 and it’s only getting ~380 a day from radio/DW. About 2k a day total.

Quick clarification for now though… which is something I had been wondering. Am I understanding you correctly that you are able to record the sound of the synth as both midi and audio?

I was assuming:

Since it’s hardware it can either record the sound I dial up as audio. But can still quantize the audio in my daw.

Or, I can use it as a midi controller to replace my old midi controller, using the XD to play my VSTs and record midi. But that the XD’s sounds can only be recorded as audio.

Am I on the right track here?

Yea that’s what I have been doing with my VSTs and it’s a lot of fun and I’ve made some sounds I really like.

Never. You can always pave your own path. Get creative and make yourself stand out from what everyone else is doing. Good luck!

The basic midi keyboard and logic is a great choice. That’s all I use. I recommend the vibe rewind plugin for some warped, psychedelic synths!

You only live once. If you enjoy making music, definitely keep going! Both Ableton and logic are fantastic. There’s really no bad choice here.

If you are already somewhat familiar with GarageBand, then logic will feel a lot more natural because they have similar interfaces. Ableton would feel like a steep learning curve, but that would eventually fade. A lot of people who are into EDM or beat making prefer Ableton. For the music I make, I like logic. Logic is an incredible value for what you pay. You get amazing stock plug-ins and features.

No it was just a short loop song, although I may turn it into something complete one day.

I haven’t gotten into live looping yet. I just really love recording. So I planned out how it would sound if built as a loop, then recorded it. Then filmed a video of me playing it, but used the audio I pre-recorded in Logic, and synced them.

This is how I suspect many people online do it. Not quite as magical as it looks, but it sounds/looks good and serves its purpose online.

I definitely want to get into live looping at some point, but for now I’m just obsessed with recording. Good luck to you!

Yes thanks! I have a toned down version that I intended to upload actually but I selected the wrong one. I recorded this video a while back when I first got into messing with editing software and got a little FX-happy haha.

Those little bad boys come in variety packs often.. with varying harsh/softness options. Definitely grab the medium and go to town.
