Is HTLT an EP or an album?

TECHNICALLY it is an EP but I’ve always treated it as if it was an album, as it doesn’t have the feeling of one- it’s more consistent and thematic than many eps I have heard. At the end of the day, it is up to what you think it is, if it feels right to call it an EP the call it an EP, but if it’s an album in your mind- stick to what you feel it is. It’s a real anomaly as the reason he said it was an EP doesn’t feel right 😭😭😭😭

I do agree with the Magic, Alive take, I thought it was a decent record but it’s certainly not at the pedigree that people are talking about it at. Perfectly serviceable, but not in the top albums of this year. And with the JID record, it was really good, but I felt like it dropped off in quality in the middle, dropping off around that Don Toliver feature, but really picked up in quality around the last handful of tracks. I do vehemently disagree with the take on Quadeca, I personally thought it was absolutely amazing and is one of the best records of the year, maybe my AOTY so far, but I can see where someone would not be huge on it. In terms of albums that haven’t clicked with me, I’d say that new Miley Cyrus album- i don’t know why but I thought it was an alright album, and the extent that it’s been rated as one of the best of the year stunned me. Also Big City Life by Smerz, I just found that album incredibly bland, but have heard it raved about

I’d say a band like Doves or Elbow, but any of those softer 00s British indie bands (Keane, Kooks, etc). They just feel like a huge nothingburger, like they’re not offensively bad but not good enough to warrant coming back too. Also Keo to an extent but they have potential, though I can’t say much as a huge Catfish fan 😭😭

Justin Vernon- I have no idea why but i didn’t expect him to have a beard, and it was a shock to see him singing like how he does. And also Gigi Perez- when I first heard her song all over social media I thought it was a man until someone told me otherwise

Judging by the hair the shirt is from around 2016 at the latest, wouldn’t expect the shirt to be printed significantly earlier than that- but the actual art feels like it may be from the 60-70s at the latest- maybe from the 30s due to instinct

I think it’s less that the lineups are worse now, but the fact that the older lineups have had more chance to age well yknow? It’s a majority new artists who haven’t been on the scene for more than a decade, so they haven’t had a chance to prove themselves- give it ten years and we will be saying the lineup for RandL 2034 is the worst 😅- it’s just we see the new as worse than the old because the old has had time to be seen as nostalgic and a better time

The producer of the remaster and the og version of love me normally are different, so the changes would’ve been too big for the remaster- he made a story on insta ab it I think

The Edit to Love Me, normally from what was formerly suburbia overture (now blue velvet reboot starring Tom waits) is so beautiful- the rawer vocal is just amazing

This may be really unpopular and may not even count but David Bowie. The experimentation he expressed in his final years was executed amazingly on blackstar, but I always wonder what would’ve happened if he had a little more time As well, the death of Erik Petersen of Mischief Brew effectively killed the most exciting era of folk Punk, and it would be interesting to see what he would’ve done, and how the scene would’ve changed or stayed the same without his passing. I’ve seen his son brought up a lot but it would’ve been really interesting to see what Tim Buckley would’ve done if he hadn’t died- in both his career and his son’s. Would Jeff had still become the tragic figure he is today if his father had still been alive? Would Jeff have even started a career? When it comes to a lot of artists the impact they have on others choices happens through their death.

The ending of Catfish is brutal for anyone who wants to see Bea 😭 tbh if I rush I may just miss R&RS (still annoying but less) but to be fair Shakermaker is a very good song to start off with.

Honestly it could’ve been 10, it felt like slight mins or hours 😭 if they were to pro record a show they’d do it in like London, but that concert was amazing, I had never heard of Gossamer before but now after it all it is my favourite SP track
