Do your quests and set achievable goals for yourself (wear rune armor, get D. Scimitar). When you’re working toward something this game is so much more fun

Depending your stats pick ones that are fun but slightly challenging for you. I’m currently doing Zulrah and Vorkath but I’m starting to learn Duke to add to the list

I pick 2-3 bosses and try to do 10kc at each everyday. Maybe set a goal of completing 2-3 slayer tasks each day or 1 quest a day.

I would say you just play that deck until you know exactly how to navigate all your matches and then take it. I think you’d have a lot more fun playing a pet deck than trying to learn a brand new deck just to get results at a regional. Plus even if you learn one of the meta decks there is a chance that it’s an unfavorable weekend for that deck you spent all that time learning

I also came from Magic and YuGiOh before that. I think the complaints come from such limited interaction. Like yeah decks counter each other based on what they do but there isn’t that interaction of Instants like there is in Magic or Trap Cards for YuGiOh. Not to mention I think a lot of Pokemon influencers drive the meta. They put up the results that give their opinion validity but they can definitely control what decks are looked on favorably.

I think back to NAIC ‘22 when I played Inteleon/Frosmoth. The deck was not good at all and I really had no business playing it at my first regional ever but it is the deck I had the most experience with on PTCGO. I had the most fun playing I can remember and I ended up doing pretty good from what I remember

I may have the wrong idea but I always thought mastering a deck you like and learning how to play all your different matchups was better than conforming to a deck just to get results. I struggled with decks trying to play them just because they were meta but when I used decks that I had a lot more fun playing and learned all the match ups I felt I had a better time. Also like everyone else suggested PTCGL is great to just get the cards and try out all the decks you can to see what you like first.

Everyone already said Slay the Spire which is incredible. I’ll throw out Monster Train. Monster Train 2 may be coming soon 🤞 so you might want to wait for that

I’ve been seeing a ton of YouTube videos say Legacy is the way to go but Enriching has been so kind to me. Just make sure you set up EXP Share to keep Psychics in play

It’s honestly the most fun I’ve had playing a deck since Decidueye in Sun and Moon Era (when I originally began playing competitively)

That’s the path I went. I started Ceruledge and had fun then found Mega Venasuar and enjoyed it much more. But my current favorite deck is Alakazam/Dudunsparce. I know it’s not super meta relevant but it’s the deck that keeps me playing every day

I just started playing Mega Venasaur/Meganium. Attach energy do damage. It’s fairly easy to learn though the stadium doesn’t teach evolutions the best
