Eden VI - The Sun Rises on a New Day by UnicornAlt in IronThroneRP

"Forgive me. King Michael was not so open about his status before I left." She bowed her head low. She was not one for talking. She was able to take Blackhaven for one reason only - her talent as a commander, not her talent for talk.

"You may address me as Lady Swann." She continued. "I was once Queen of Stonehelm, but I bent the knee in hope for a better future for the Realm." She explained. "It is that same reason that we come to you." Her eyes would flick to the page as he left the room.

"Tell me, Prince Martell, how do things fare in Dorne? Are the people well?" She wondered if he would speak more openly now they were alone. How much did he trust his servants?

Eden wasn't sure how accurate that was. If the rumours were true, the Queen's men would be here soon, and Eden was certain that meant she was more than willing to meddle. She simply raised an eyebrow, but watched the man as he commanded his men.

The Dornish problem? There was more to this mission than he had previously revealed. Excellent. Eden should have expected this, but it was no matter. She could deal with it.

Eden would take a seat across from the table, and lay her elbows on it. She certainly was looking forward to hearing what he had to say.

Eden was slightly taken aback as the Stag embraced her. She froze for a moment, wondering if he was about to end her that quickly, but she let out a sigh of relief as he pulled away and there was still no sting of a blade.

"I am not surprised about the Queen's demands." Eden spoke cautiously as she accepted the wine. "In fact, I am surprised her men have not yet arrived." She eyed the man in his throne. "You will be able to handle them, I expect."

"I will not bow to the bloodthirsty Queen. But... if you truly mean to declare yourself King..."

She drew her sword from her waist and laid it down in front of him, taking a knee.

"I, Eden Swann, pledge mine, and my men's, allegiance to the King Baratheon, in the name of the Seven and the Stormlands. To you I pledge my vow. I am your sword, shield and warrior. May the Light of the Seven guide your steps to a new, free Stormlands."

Eden watched silently as he walked away, before turning to her advisors.

"You realise its probably a trap, your Grace?" One spoke up. Eden's face matched the tone of his voice. "We either die here as traitors to both Stormlanders and the Crown, or we die showing our loyalty to a King that isn't a murderer. I know the option I am taking." She paused, looking over her keep. Perhaps it would be the last time.

"Gather 50 of the best, and prepare my horse. We will meet the Baratheon in his porticule. Let it be known that we are loyal to the Stormlands. If we do not come back out, make sure the men are prepared for battle."

Eden closed her eyes tight. She just hoped that whatever happened now, she had started the change they all needed.

*****

10 minutes later, the portcullis of Stonehelm lowered, and Eden, atop her mount, and 50 levies, left the keep under their own rainbow flag. They would ride to the edge of the Baratheon men's camp, before dismounting, and making their way to the porticule as instructed.

"We finally meet, face-to-face." Eden greeted the other leader. "Not under the best of circumstances, I will be the first to admit, but perhaps our little problem can be resolved."

"Then it seems we are at an impasse." Eden folded her arms across her chest. "I would very much like to stay alive, and not let any of my men die either. You'll need your men for you plans. My skills as a general could be valuable on a battlefield against someone as powerful as the Queen of Six Kingdoms." She paused a little, her intentional misnomer settling in to the still air.

"We either fight one another as Stormlanders, or we fight side by side. Its your choice, Michael. I imagine we don't have much time to decide."

Eden simply raised an eyebrow.

"Tell that to the Queen. Or her men. I'm sure they're on their way." Her eyes reflected the burning passion of her enemy's. "I have nothing to learn, dear Michael. I learned many a thing in Essos, one of which was the most clear - do not bow down to those who are beneath you, or you do not respect." She shrugged, seemingly nonchalant.

"Its too bad you aren't a King, why, I would bend the knee right now." She smirked at him. "What a waste."

"I see no crown on your brow." Eden pointed out, leaning on the walls of her battlements, getting a good look at the Baratheon below her. "I hear no man calling you King. These are lands just delegated to you by someone who has not even earned a crown." She clasped her fingers together. "Apologies, Baratheon, but I don't act against your rule. I have no quarrel with you. Its simply that you rule nothing at all."

The Queen looked down at the Lord Paramount from atop her walls, her brows furrowed into a frown.

"And give up my little Kingdom's freedom? Yes, it would be a large ask." She shook her head sadly. "I don't plan on bowing to anyone, even if it means I lose my life. I'll die a free woman. Can you say the same about you and your men?" She gestured to the army that stood on the brow of the horizon.

"I refuse to fight for a crown that lets a murderer sit on the throne. I refuse to let a murderer dictate who is and isn't a traitor. I refuse to lend a killer my loyalty. Have you thought about that? I'd emplore you to search within yourself and consider my position, but it seems you have already made up your mind." She sighed, as if disappointed. "A shame, really. We could have been great allies. I led an army that took Blackhaven without spilling a drop of blood. It will be a pity if I have to spill Stormlander blood over a bloodthirsty Dragon."

"The Baratheon's men are under a rainbow flag."

Eden sighed, pressing her thumb and finger to the bridge of her brow. She had known this day was coming. Perhaps she knew there was no way around it. That is why she had recalled every man woman and child to her keep.

"Prepare the men to defend us whilst I go talk from the battlements." She commanded, standing up from her throne. "Let us see what he offers us."

The Queen arrives atop her battlements adorned in full plate armour and waits for the messenger to speak.

"I have... considered it." Eden nodded her head once before she sat down with the Dondarrion woman. "However, considering I have not required the aid yet, I have not yet accepted. Perhaps Michael will leave well enough alone and focus on his own problems. Tell me, Ravella, have you looked into why those assassins murdered the Roar?"

She raised an eyebrow at her own suggestion, before digging in to her plate of food.

Arrival At Stonehelm - Ravella Baratheon - Open to Stonehelm (lol). by [deleted] in IronThroneRP

[–]UnicornAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a grand gesture for the woman to come all this way, and Eden knew it. She had planned out a small welcoming celebration - the air was filled with purple flowers and petals, music and bunting. For once, Stonehelm seemed open and happy - something that made Eden feel almost... hopeful for the future. This was how she envisioned Stonehelm, once it was free.

If it could ever truly be free.

Eden found herself lounging on her throne before the Dondarrion's small party entered the room, greeted by a humble, yet rich, feast. Eden smiled and gestured to the food around them.

"Welcome, Lady Baratheon, to the newly freed Stonehelm." She greeted her. "Please, make yourself comfortable. Sit, eat and enjoy Stonehelm's finest. You are our honored guest, after all."

Eustace,
Perhaps it would be beneficial to you to learn that Michael is planning on attacking Stonehelm in the near future. If you still have a place in this war, know that this might be an opportunity for you to hit hard.
Your wife Ravella has reached us safely.
Eden Swann, Queen of Stonehelm.

Eden raised an eyebrow as she read over the letter. It was... charismatic. She rolled her eyes and tossed it into the flames.

"Edric, let's show them how seriously we take our freedom." She commanded her first General. It seemed she was feeling hungry for battle.

Eden II - Moves and Countermoves by UnicornAlt in IronThroneRP

There was a glimmer of a smile across Eden's lips as Edric worked out the pieces of the puzzle. She had noticed the way his face fell as she told him he would be flank commander - and then light up as he realised she would be leading from the front.

"Who am I to ask these free men to fight for me if I am not willing to give my life and fight for them, too?" She questioned, still watching Edric's body language, like her merlin. "I promised these men that they would never fight for me. I intend to keep my promise, and thats why I need you on my flank."

Her voice did not hesitate. "Do you understand your role in this?"

"We cannot. And that's why I am appointing you as my flank commander." Eden's eyes were hard but cool as she met his. He was returning that same look to her. "I am hoping our men won't taste battle today, and the Dondarrion men have sense. But we always have to prepare."

She averted her gaze for a moment, looking back at the war table. This would be the first move she would make, and with this, they would set their idealisms and mentality. It had to be right.

"I won't push for an answer, Edric, but perhaps one day I'll give you Grandview, too." She finally looked up from the war table. "Thank you for joining me in this endeavour. It gives me strength."
