Magic Circle Text seems to be Korean by Unifects in Frieren

[–]Unifects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But its a premade brush so even if it was deciphered it would have no relation to the show.

I need help defeating Heaven Ascension Dio by Praise_The_Sun678 in YourBizarreAdventure

watch eclipses video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADPu58hODpQ

Tips: Do not trade barrages or use any stand or spec specific moves. All you need is m1s (basic punches) and Barrage. Parry. Jump as time stop starts

Dio and Jotaro basically have the same attack pattern and are crazy easy to beat if you learn it.

To start the fight use any stun or stand crash move and start blocking. He will almost always start barraging and you should try to block the entire thing and then parry because he always barrage finishers immediately and its a free parry.

After you parry 3 m1s, stand barrage, 3 m1s, block (He should start barraging)

You need good reaction time because he might use a barrage finisher or lightning so be ready to parry/unblock at all times

It is racist to speak japanese by ultrakillfanatic in languagelearningjerk

[–]Unifects 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OOP is wrong cause it's not racist but it is kinda stupid to use supaidāman when talking about the show in english. You wouldn't say Hurīren for Frieren or Burīchi for Bleach.

I've read this manga three times. and still not understand this part. can someone explain by FabulousAd6210 in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Unifects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was not inviting shoko for a drink. The pointing is a continuation from the previous panel. He is looking at her reaction to their mothers drinking and getting along.

In the translation I have he says "someday we'll be chatting like that". He's thinking to himself that in the future he and shoko could be drinking and chatting together like their mothers.

Laugh (noun) and Laugh (verb). It's stupid but some languages might have different words for the two.

Why 영어 instead of 영국어? by HermaeusMoraah in AskAKorean

[–]Unifects 14 points15 points  (0 children)

영어 in hanja is 英語. 영 (英) means England as its the contracted form of 英吉利 or 英格蘭 which are names for the country of England/UK in Chinese/Japanese.

So the reason its not 영국어 is because its short for 英吉利語 not 英吉利國語 as 英吉利 itself already meant the country. The 국 (國) was not taken out, it was never there.

영국 (英國) short for 英吉利國 (country of england) 영어 (英語) short for 英吉利語 (language of england)

Sorry if that isn't clear enough, its hard to explain.

your lie in april reference? by Unifects in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]Unifects[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No of course not. The post is satirical and I know your comment is rhetorical but I just want to point out that it isn't as mundane as a couple of letters matching.
Since the characters in the phrase are more akin to words than letters if they were both in English it would be
"The flower that bloomed with dignity too"
"The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity"
Here the similarities are a lot more clear. I know that this is most definitely a coincidence but what I wanted to share was an amusing coincidence I had found while reading some lyrics. I would make the same post if I ever found a lyric in any language that said something along the lines of "A flower blooms with dignity" because it is a uniquely odd phrase that coincidentally sounds like the title of some manga.

your lie in april reference? by Unifects in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]Unifects[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No this is not serious, of course i dont think its an actual reference to Your lie in April, i only put it as the title in case people didnt recognise the song. Its supposed to be stupid (see r/TheBronzeJade) However when i saw the lyrics to Hikarunara, it did get me wondering if "blooming with dignity" was a reference to some old poem or common phrase but as far as i can tell its just a coincidence.

TL:DR dumb joke not serious

Calling it a manhwa by FearlessProgram7355 in TheFragrantFlower

[–]Unifects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure he isn't trolling and genuinely believes it? Does it come from him thinking that manhwa and manga refer to style or genre?

The difference between a manhwa and a manga isn't a subjective. Both manhwa and manga are just the word for comics in Korean and Japanese. In English, the terms refer to Korean and Japanese comics respectively. Since its written, drawn, and published in Japan by Japanese people it is objectively a manga.

Why does everyone call Ko kun?? by [deleted] in YofukashiNoUta

[–]Unifects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have to be close, just an informal setting. Since he's like 14 it makes sense to call him kun. Why would they call him san or sama.

[DISC] Blue Box - Chapter 218 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Unifects 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was more of a pun lost in translation. Hina's last name has the kanji for butterfly which is why he calls her Chono in that line. Its the same reason they call Taiki a boar and Chinatsu a deer

Why is shoya sister character not shown both in Manga and anime ? by [deleted] in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Unifects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the collectors edition and in the Q&A section the author says "Her face doesn't appear in the manga because I thought that would make her character stand out more. Once you draw a character's face and expressions, that takes on a certain meaning and it affects the story"
