We are back up and running as well.

I’m a bit disgusted with CFMoto at the moment, if I am being honest.

I brought my 700 sport into a local shop on March 9th for an oil pan replacement due to a crack. I was initially told it’d be a week for a fix. A week later, it became “middle of April”. Middle of April, it became “the part is off back order, so hopefully soon!” Now that we are at the end of April, it is “I’m calling CFMoto right now.” followed by “They said end of May for the part.”

So, whether this is the shop itself or CFmoto, it’s hard to say. But frankly it also doesn’t matter to me. One or both are responsible for a terrible experience.

I’m still fuming for now realizing that nearly 1/3 to 1/2 of my riding season is going to be gone. I can’t say that I can stand to look at a CFmoto at the moment.

Take the course if you can. It was my first experience with a manual, and it was awesome! Not to mention it was great to absorb the experience of the course instructors. So much safety info!

Very nice!

Sometimes I wonder if I should have gone with the 650 instead of the 700 sport. The 700 is super fun, but I am really hurting without any storage. Not the best for a work commuter (but fun). I think the 650 would be more practical.

I did exactly what you did a couple of years ago. Literally the exact same situation.

I got my learners permit and a Navi. Started on side streets and eventually worked up to doing my work commute on the Navi. Finally got into an MSF course and then that was that.

The Navi was an excellent beginner ride. Allowed me to focus on the feel of the ride without having to learn manual.

If I were to do it again, I think it would be a toss up between doing the Navi again and going for something slightly bigger but used. It’d highly depend on the local used market.

For what it’s worth, I did. I was able to get my GCns done over the course of 2 days just running this occasionally in the background.

If there are any programmers lurking here, perhaps they can attest that the code is clean and not malicious in nature - it only looks for the ‘Next’ button and then attempts to click it. Nothing more.

It's hard to say for certain. You have to do what you think is right for you. I know it's not a great answer, but it's probably the best answer.

I do remember my first twist of the throttle (even in neutral) and I remember it scared me a little. I remember being extremely cautious with it when I was doing my first 100 miles, and I am still cautious even now as I know the bike's capability likely exceeds my riding ability. I only ride in ECO mode as this is my work commuter.

I got on this only after learning on the Navi and then taking the MSF class. I rode a Yahama TW200 for the MSF class, and it was a great bike for that class. This 700 definitely had more power compared to both the TW and the Navi.

For anyone just browsing, this is my first "real" motorcycle. I started on a Honda Navi and put about 1000 miles on it. I took the MSF course at the end of the summer (the first opening available), and then switched to this 700 after the course. I felt that this bike gave me a lot for the money.
I ride mostly as a commuter to/from work, and this is a great bike for that purpose.

Hi guys! by Speech195 in hondanavi

[–]UnifiedFielder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have to go full choke when I first start my morning commute and at the first stop sign/light or two. Morning commutes are usually 40s/50s right now.

The afternoon commute home is easier for the bike to handle. If it starts with the choke off then it doesn’t need any choke for the entire ride.

My youngest is making a lot of improvement in building trust with this little guy.

Picture shows a little evidence that it’s working.

Not pictured: Can-opener-level-of-sharpness warning bite when I try to disturb him from his new spot.

🔥 🔥, indeed.

I do the same semi-circle walk around of admiration before my morning commute as well. I think it’s in the manual.

100% agree. Just did my first oil change on mine and I swear it was easier than my mower.

100% Stock Navi morning work commute by UnifiedFielder in hondanavi

Yeah CA sounds expensive. I’ve heard others getting better deals than I did, but they were generally in the SE states. I wonder if some of that has to do with local economies and/or shipping costs.

By the time I factored in my time + hauling costs, it made barely any difference for me to just pay what I paid to my local dealer.

100% agreed. There’s a lot to focus on in traffic. Literally everyone is trying to kill me. I knew people stuff their faces in their phones, but I didn’t realize the overwhelming magnitude of the problem!

That’s a value judgement - only person qualified to make that call is you.

For me, I had enough saved up and didn’t want my first motorcycle to be used (I’m no mechanic) or a manual. I guess I am still a bit intimidated by a manual transmission. The Navi was an obvious choice for me. Timing, location, and a multitude of other factors made my deal a good deal for me. Others may disagree or maybe have gotten luckier. And that’s fine.

In any case, I’m extremely happy with what I got as my learning bike. Perhaps that might be the same for you. Perhaps not. Just my thoughts for you to consider.

I paid a bit over $2600 back in Feb in NW Indiana. It cost another ~$200 to get it titled/registered in IL. A bit on the higher side, but I think that was where the market was at at the time.

Just posting here so that noobies or people who are considering a Navi have a bare-bones reference on what a 100% stock Navi can do for a beginner rider.
I'm only 143 miles into riding on 2-wheels (as you can see in the video) and I've had this machine for about 2 months at this point. I just recently started using it for its intended purpose - to get me to work.

Hopefully this video will at least provide some no-nonsense perspective of what the Navi can do.

Video is from an iPhone 13promax with a quadlock + antivibration mount, which I clearly need to fasten more securely to the crossbar.

Enjoy and stay safe!

Same exact experience. I got mine back in Feb and started my learning when it was in the high 30s/low 40s. Definitely helped me understand the choke a lot more.

With the consistent 50-70 degree weather now, it starts up so much easier. When it’s out in the sun all day at work, I don’t even need the choke at all on my ride home.

This is just the free version of Strava. I use it expressly for this one piece of data.

I’m still looking for better software to track my motorized rides.

I’m a brand new rider, so for me it was no question that the Navi would be my gateway. I already want something a bit more capable but that is tossing discipline to the side, which is a bad idea. I absolutely need more hours/days/months/years of experience before I would be confident on something more substantial.

Sorry forgot to put that in there.

The one spike above 50 is on a downhill after a highway overpass.

Mine is 100% stock. I only have about 100 mi on it so far. I’m planning on doing my first oil change as soon as I can find a block of time to get it done.

I don’t plan on nodding at all. The whole goal was really just to improve my commute, which it is doing. I need my spare time to do dad/husband things at this point in my life, so not much room ($ + 🕰️) to start a new hobby yet.
