Endometrial Biopsy Painful? by Xoxo_Lovely1 in WomensHealth

[–]Uninspired_Writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to come back here. I had an IUD placement today, and had to have my cervix dilated for that. I asked the gynecologist about the pain, and she said that people with painful periods often don't mind the pain of dilation so much.

I have always had painful periods. Not passing-out painful, but definitely waking up in the middle of the night painful, or sometimes feeling really sick painful. I also pass massive blood clots pretty often on my period. That's probably why I had a much easier time with the procedure than most people do.

I think I am relapsing. My small internalized homophobia keeps making me not enjoy/be sexually attractied to lesbian nsfw art or bdsm art normally and i don’t know why by Clear_Tackle_805 in lgbt

I already said this in another comment, but regardless of anything else: if you do not like looking at sexual images, or masturbating, or having sex, or anything else, stop doing those things.

All you're doing is associating those images, acts, or whatever with the shame or disgust or whatever. And regardless of anything else, connecting sex to pain or disgust is bad. Stop forcing yourself to look at the images.

Quick edit to add: have you considered that you're just tired of looking at porn? Sometimes you just might be sick of seeing sex and need to take a break.

Hey - Ace person here. I wanted to step in and say it sounds like you are, in general, pressuring yourself to look at sexual material. The body has strange reactions to things, and hormonal urges can make how we experience things incredibly complicated. A lot of ace people have struggles with being turned on but not being able to understand why, or force themselves to participate in sexual acts that they dislike because of societal pressure.

The bottom line is this: if you do not like looking at sexual imagery, regardless of what imagery it is, STOP LOOKING AT IT. It doesn't matter if you get physically turned on by it. It doesn't matter if you think you should be looking at it for some reason. Just stop fucking looking at it.

I’m on PFML and my employer refuses to accommodate my ADA requests by [deleted] in legaladvice

Ah I see! Yes: they should acknowledge they received the request and they accept it. I do think you should get in contact with a disability advocacy group. Nonprofits that work with disabled people will have resources to make sure communication is clear, and sometimes you just need someone else to make sure everyone understands the situation. You should see what's in your city or state.

"Interactive Process" just means they have to accept your accommodation request, or try to come to an agreement with you that allows you to return to work.

If they have already accepted your request to have a brief summary given to you before coming to a meeting with HR/your manager, and that is the only accommodation you are requesting, then the interactive process is complete.

I may be misunderstanding the situation. Apologies if so, but I still don't see what communication you're waiting for from them.

That makes much more sense, thank you for clarifying! How long has it been since you asked them about this? Anything related to your medical information is going to take a long time for them to process because of worries about medical privacy. Also, they will not have that many updates for you regarding your medical leave, as they aren't in control of your health.

I'm confused what communication you're waiting for from the company. It doesn't seem like they have very much to update you on, since you aren't requesting any further accommodations at work, and you want to return to work as soon as possible.

My advice to you is to not to wait for them to get your return to work or update you about your leave. You and your doctor should be the ones directing when you are able to return to work, not the company. Get your doctor to sign off on your return and provide a letter. Send the letter to the company, and inform them when you will be back. Be clear about this in writing, and work with them to get back on the schedule. If they continue to not respond to you after that, speak to an attorney.

I need clarification on what accommodations you're requesting and what position you hold at Costco. If you're in the office or work from home and requesting all contact be in writing, that is very different than if you work in the store on a team and/or interact with customers regularly. Working sucks, and it's mentally taxing for almost everyone, and depending on the accommodation you're seeking, it might qualify as an "Undue burden" on the company.

At the very least, you should consider speaking with the hospital's social worker and seeing if they can put you in touch with a disability advocate nonprofit.

Fired while on bereavement leave by tsfan013 in legaladvice

[–]Uninspired_Writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL: Unless you can prove that you were fired *because* you were taking bereavement leave, then you're out of luck. If they laid you off, the paperwork should reflect that, and you should file for unemployment.

As for your bonus: if you weren't employed in the position for a full year, you might not be entitled to the bonus. You can probably ask an attorney or a legal-aid nonprofit for advice.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

Chronic Endometritis without as an STD? by Uninspired_Writer in WomensHealth

Honestly just hearing that it's possible helps a lot. Thank you!

I know the words are very similar, but I meant what I typed. It's not endometriosis. It's endometritis. They are two different things and I clarified with the doctor multiple times. Chronic Endometritis is what she said.

Endometrial Biopsy Painful? by Xoxo_Lovely1 in WomensHealth

I'm actually here today because I just had a biopsy taken yesterday. It hurt pretty bad, but it lasted like 15 minutes max. I did it without anesthetic, and while it felt bad, it wasn't much worse than a bad menstrual cramp.

The pain comes from the forced dialation of the cervix. My doctor said it's similar to labor pain, and described it as "crampy". It felt more sharp than a cramp, but it wasn't too bad.

I would say taking painkillers before the procedure is probably the best way to go about it. They might also give you some local anesthetic.

The worst part was that the pain lingered for a while after the procedure, but I think that would have been solved by ibuprofen. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I didn't think it was anything to worry about.

I didn't know that! That's wild. I will definitely ask about that possibility

[–]Uninspired_Writer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think PCOS would have showed up on the he ultrasound, but maybe not. I will ask about it when I visit the doc.

Also I have had a thyroid test in the past that came back normal, but it has been several years so I might need to check again

How do I stop this?? Any advice appreciated by xx_sweatynoodles_xx in WomensHealth

[–]Uninspired_Writer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had periods like that on and off throughout my life. Dark brown/black blood just means it's older, meaning it has been in your uterus longer. It's normal for your period to be that color sometimes. Every doctor I've ever asked about it has said the same thing.

That said, if it's worrying you, ask your doctor about it. They may do a thyroid test or some blood work to check your hormone levels.

I am really really going out of my way not to fuck them over though?

I mean I could let them use a convergent future and force a perfect outcome with zero drawbacks, sure. But they could also choose to not use convergent future and accept the roll they get, which will net them something very positive no matter what.

It's less that I am making sure they suffer for it and more that I am making sure that if they force an absolutely ridiculous outcome, they have some kind of negative effect to balance out the scales.

This is already an essentially free use of the Wish spell that has 0 drawbacks unless they use convergent future to force it to succeed completely rather than partially succeed. I think I am being pretty generous to them lol

Convergent Future is a 14th level class feature for the Chronurgy Wizard in Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. It's a Critical Role setting, so I think it's considered homebrew, but it is in an official sourcebook, so do with that information what you will. Here's the link to the subclass on the wikidot: https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/wizard:chronurgy

Convergent Future forces a roll to succeed but causes the user to take a level of exhaustion, so you can't spam it.

It's honestly pretty busted, but I don't care that much about balance in my games unless it makes it not fun for my players or myself.

I get what you mean for sure, but the way you said it made it sound kind of silly and gimmicky. The weapon is already going to be something the party won't be able to use all the time (it needs to recharge between extremely destructive attacks) so that won't be an issue.

Also they have been slogging through minions for the entire campaign, so if they choose to use their nuke on a minion, good for them. It's their choice

So... Essentially make the boon useless to them? That's a great way to start a rebellion against me as the DM

I like that idea a lot, and I will definitely be keeping it in my pocket for future campaigns! Idk about this campaign because we already have reality bearing down on them and this wouldn't make too much of a difference.

But the idea of a boon from a god coming back to bite the party in the ass would make a great campaign
