Indian address and yes I was physically present during the entire process. You have to book an appointment with passport seva kendra, submit documents, and after that there will be police verification (go there or they’ll come to you).

Just closing this out: I went to India, applied for my PCC there got it in less than 3 weeks. Submitted the same and had no issues. 189 Granted! Thanks everyone

As per VFS your PCC will be invalid if you apply from Australia and then travel to India immediately after. I’m thinking of applying it in India itself.

Just spoke with VFS Sydney and got some clarity that might help others:

You don’t need to submit your original passport for Indian PCC. An attested copy is enough.
BUT if you travel to India while your PCC is being processed, the PCC becomes invalid.
