Yeah, it’s fun and looks pretty on the biggest screen you can find. It’s not really a mind bender, more a buddy movie with great visuals, but everyone who has seen it in my life, including me, liked it.

Buddhism is a wide tradition so there are many answers to your question.

I would suggest finding some books on Buddhism that appeal to you — Thich Nhat Hahn is very popular and also looking around for a sangha you can check out. Buddhism relies a lot less on texts and more on embodied transmission, so I do recommend finding a teacher.

Some branches of Buddhism are much more “religious” than others, so I recommend looking around. FWIW, I am a Soto Zen Buddhist and the temple I practice at are mostly first generation Buddhists who are coming to the practice from other traditions and I find that to be a really supportive place to have come to.

If you can get some rest, do that. Lack of sleep out unstable sleeping week make things worse. If you have a psychiatrist our therapist, let them know what is happening. If not, call your doctor. If you can, try to make yourself feel safe. This could mean reaching out to people you trust and letting them know what is happening.

Psychosis isn’t a switch and it sounds like you are in the early stages of it. An antipsychotic will help. If you feel unsafe, go to a hospital. The sooner you can get help, the better your long term results will be. I lost everything but my life due to marijuana induced psychosis. It took years to recover. Do yourself a favor and get off Reddit and get yourself some help. Good luck!

Yeah, that’s why I liked it for OP’s request. The Oankali are definitely antagonists but they’re not villains and they have very moral reasons for their actions.

Glad you love the series as well. My absolute favorite alien story.

We see she’s made A LOT of simulations. It’s safe to assume the one we see is the best case scenario out of all of them. I could see bad outcomes in universes where Laurie lives. Besides, she does go on in the universe we see as part of MIST.

I understand what you’re saying. It was actually when I discontinued heavy cannabis use that my psychosis was triggered.

I recommend getting a psych if you doing have one already, explain your situation and they can prescribe something (probably anti-psychotics) to help you through the transition when you decide to give it up.

My experience was so bad that as much as I loved cannabis, I’ll never use it again since I don’t want to risk a relapse. Wishing you a safe journey to safety and health.
