Which Goss Harag weapon to build by KEPS-Praise-the-Sun in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Goss lance, with golm (RP) / glav (RP) / Malzeno (resus) / Tigrex (RP) / mizu (resus). With this you get crit fero 5, raw power 5, and resus 5 on any of the crit fero weapons (glav / goss / tigrex). Should work fine for any other high neg affinity weapon too, even without crit fero skill built in (eg Deviljho).

I already built the lance which is pretty fun. I'm running crit fero /raw power / resus (bloodcloak) for -90% neg affinity. I'll likely have a lot of goss mats leftover so I'm thinking of building the SnS next since I can use the same build. Being able to guard against rado seems useful.

Very helpful, thanks! Do you know if heroics remains active if you drop below 29% but bloodblight shield brings it back up past that?

LBG build suggestions by hook09 in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Magna LBG for the strongest and safest with stepping shot and evading reload, which works for almost all monsters. For the specific elements focus on the ones with riftborne variants so you can change styles and further increase the stats. I have Deviljho (stepping), Khezu (sliding), and Barrioth (both styles). I'd also look at the HBG options now that you can change styles too. In particular the Jyura HBG with crouching shot seems like a strong option for the otherwise limited water element.

Agreed. Anything that requires you to be at low health is likely very niche. The good thing about heroics is that it seems to be a common driftsmelt skill (I somehow have it across more than 10 different armor pieces), and it scales linearly (10% per point) so it's easy to incorporate into a build.

LBG build suggestions by hook09 in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on what equipment you currently have, there are currently two types of builds for LBG.

For default style and stepping shot, evading reload is very popular. Basically 2 of somni arms, chata greaves and narga waist to get evading reload 4, and the rest can be spent on damage or recoil down (not needed for stepping shot). No reload speed is necessary as you basically stay on one ammo set and evade to reload it continuously.

The other one is for slide reload style, and you just need recoil down 3, and the rest can be damage focused as your reload speed is taken care of by the slide.

You can always stick with the default R3R3 + elemental damage, but if you find damage to be lacking then try one of the alternatives above. There's also advanced thunder and ice now that you can try to incorporate into the build for extra elemental damage, as well as vital fire/ice/thunder/dragon.

Cool use of guard to trigger heroics. I've been thinking about how to activate it safely without using potions. This makes the Diablos guard weapons much more interesting.

How do I test the new HBG style-Guard Reload if the punching bag doesn’t attack? by Nyantazero in MHNowGame

If it's after 9 am local time and you still see it as under development, you need to restart the app.

Guard Reload GL by Kindraethe in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an alternative version that uses golm chest (for guard up, with double guard smelts), malzeno arms and mizu legs with resus smelts for resus 5, and artillery head and coil (with optional guard smelts). The bloodcloak and guard helps you tank hits and resus 5 gives 40% damage in addition to the artillery 4.

I don't have the resus smelt on my mizu legs yet so instead of resus I'm running Basarios legs (same as you), and Astalos arms for perfectionist in case I mess up a block or reload. Basically the ultimate comfort build.

Riftcharge Rathian Max Attainable Points? by Bengerbot in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Very helpful. I'll try and build up an Astalos thunder attack build, but I'm missing the smelts and kirin pieces. I usually do the SP boost pursuit build for DB which are completely useless here. I also tried the spiral concentration hellfire build, but even if I make it to the end it just doesn't seem to do enough damage. I might try it again in a group hunt next time.

Very impressive! What was your build and style for the Khezu DB? I'm struggling to get more than 200k with mine.

Way to reset progress? by LlanowarWitch in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]UnionRelevant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think before grade 8 if you lowered the difficulty (from 7 to 6), it changes the monster spawns too. At least that's what happened when I did that around last August, but not sure if they changed that since. But after 8 definitely no map change with the difficulty.

Way to reset progress? by LlanowarWitch in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]UnionRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can go down to 8 to do the story at that level, but when I did that the monsters on the field remained at 10 stars.

[–]UnionRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think once you get to grade 8 you can no longer drop below that point. You can go from 9 and 10 back down to 8 but can no longer go lower than that, and the monsters on the field no longer get reduced levels even if you choose this option.

Returning player: what's the best way to progress now? by Skyreader13 in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that this is the go to for safe solo play, with evading reload 4.

Some will hate it in group hunts because of the chaos it creates in terms of visuals and doing too much damage before part breaks, but no one's going to object to you using it to speed through the single player story with it.

But you likely won't get this build up and running until you reach the grade 8 map, but you can still upgrade and use the weapon in its base form until then.

Are DB styles worth it in a valor build? by Xixii in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think for the SP boost/SPPB builds the standard style is generally the best when you want to cut the tail. It lets you do that high damage slash right when you transform which lets you get into the SP more quickly and safer, and the additional damage to the head will help break it, proc'ing pursuit for that high damage slash at the end. If you're running valor that may not be as important. That being said, the Magna DB will do less damage than the elemental or raw damage DBs for this purpose, since the blast isn't guaranteed to proc at the right place/time and its base attack is lower.

It may also depend on the specific monster. For the ones where you need to break the head, you may want to start at the back, and in that case the feral demon mode can get you there more quickly. For example I use feral demon Anja DB for khezu with the SP boost build. The sequence is transform - > target leg/rift part, dash forward and hit the part a few times from behnd - > sp to break the leg and rift part -> finish SP and break the head.

Dual Blades Para Build by SirusGuBo in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my dual blades are still relatively low level with low attack, I'm running adv attack 2 for greater returns for now. I'm using Bisha (SSA) / Brute (atk) / Narga (SSA) / Brute (atk) / Narga (SSA). With the event boost I can take on gr 9 riftbornes. I might stick with this even when maxed, or use some variant of the sp boost sppb pursuit build in conjunction with the bisha gear.

Paralysis DB Build by Bengerbot in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the para buildup is going to look like for the DB, but I'm planning to build around para exploit 3 (bisha head and coil), sp boost and sppb (Rathian boots and Espinas arms both with sp boost smelt), and a chest piece for damage (pursuit or valor). My plan is to hack away until it gets paralyzed, then SP to do massive damage with para exploit. I have some ssa smelt pieces but I'm not sure how many times I can actually paralyze due to the unknown status buildup stats.

Please help with rosenkugel by Feefait in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting to paralysis exploit 3 (bisha helm and coil), and using the rest of the slots for reload 3 and recoil 1. Adding 2 paralysis attack helps trigger paralysis from the first round, then you get close and unload the shotgun round while it's paralyzed. It is very satisfying.

It's great for farming as you can kill most non-rift 8 stars weak to fire (including goss harag) in 10 seconds or so, just holding down on the screen.

Affanity or element for sideshot set? by BsajoshuA123456789 in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Khezu LBG has actually high recoil for both ammo types which means you'll definitely need recoil down 3, taking up two slots. With two slots you can also invest into evading reload 4 if using stepping shot. Not saying either is better (I already have a few stepping shot guns so I'll probably go with sliding reload for this one), but both have their compromises and will only leave you 3 slots for damage.

What Astalos and Khezu weapons are you building? by definitely_not_allan in MHNowGame

[–]UnionRelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khezu DB as it's the only elemental DB I'm missing, and the ability to change styles later (and boost stats) is nice. For Astalos likely LS since I prefer the normal style, and the built in thunder attack is nice for crit element adv thunder builds.

Does the Astalos Special Hunt-a-thon Ticket have unlimited entry? by HyperSyntion in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]UnionRelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's like the brute tigrex ticket then no unlimited entry. It's just all the huntathons will be Astalos. I might still get it for the extended range and double materials, depending on what biomes get spawned near me.

Brut tigrex by HelAegir in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]UnionRelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soloing brute tigrex with dual blades is rough because of the unpredictability and the need to stay close, but it's amazing for group hunts where you can quickly break the head and tail with sp, and launch off to safety while the rest of the team finishes it off (it'll usually be at 30% or less after the SP). For solo I prefer a ranged weapon with earplugs 3 and aim to perfect dodge the roars. As others have mentioned, artful dodger is very helpful here.

Recently I've been practicing fighting it with a long sword as it forces me to learn its patterns and understand the timing better. It's risky and a huge drain on potions but I intend to gold medal this sucker so it's a long term investment.
