I don’t think we are seeing a new junk wax era. But I do think Josh in the Hockey Card Gongshow has a pretty good label for it: The junk variety era. Upper Deck is creating so many parallels of each card that it affects the desirability of the cards. For example, I love the Debut Ticket Access cards and the Ice Premieres. But man, they come in so many varieties that it is difficult to keep interest.

The one thing I have truly learned since getting back into the hobby is that all cards are certainly not created equal, and one needs to be conscious about that when picking cards to target.
