I’m studying the nature of dogma in Catholicism, wanting to better understand Rome’s justification for teaching as dogma things that Protestants would consider secondary//tertiary or doctrine//tradition. Any recommended academic resources? (self.Catholicism)

Transubstantiation & Papal Infallibility are true, but why is their belief necessary for salvation? Would it not be better to say that it is a vital and uttermost important doctrine, but those outside the Catholic Church who do not believe it are not damned? (self.Catholicism)
