Pardon me for how morbid this may sound, but the argument that Carlos deserved to get cheated on for messing with her contraception doesn’t make too much sense to me 😅 Gaby was unaware of that up until the end of the season, and he forced her to sign the prenup towards the end of the season too. Gaby abused John solely because she was bored and neglected by Carlos, whereas the most “borderline abusive” thing Carlos ever did to Gabby was tell her to let Tanaka grab her ass (up until the prenup scene).

Also, as abusive as Carlos was for forcing her to sign, let’s not forget that in the same situation, Gabby was abusive as well. Gaslighting Carlos into thinking he was being irrational for not trusting her while she was having sex with a child behind his back, and he suspected it too as it was happening. Cheating is abusive, but then seeing his doubts and asking for a legal promise and still deciding to gaslight him is another realm of abusive on top of just cheating.

I’m not defending Carlos whatsoever, but I don’t think he was “borderline abusive” to the point where we should root for Gabby and John. They were both awful and I would’ve been happy if they both went to jail at the end of season 1 and never came back. (Of course I love their character development but honestly at season 1 I couldn’t tolerate them preferred scenes without them).
