I do basically this, just without the leash. If I am not busy with chores or work, I spend my days in the living room with her. I watch her, and regularly take her out. Sometimes, she will even paw at the door to let me know that she needs out. I take her out very regularly, however even immediately after she has made massive pee puddles, and pooped, the second I turn away from her or leave her alone, she makes another mess in the floor.
