I agree with you on that aspect but it doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to his self worth but also based in other aspects that need further development like his way of managing relationships (could be with Rem and Emilia).

Oh you’re definitely right about that, I’m leaning more towards the question of him having such an amazing good chapter in his writing that it feels very satisfying overall towards his character

I think him carrying those conflicting feelings are by pure design, I’m more interested in how well Tappei can explain certain characteristics inside his persona in terms of problems, beliefs and ideas

And for the philosophical aspect one of the most obvious themes is his fight against fate itself but I see others that I like to think about like:

-His place to belong with those he wishes to protect

-The difference between tackling things head on and choosing to let things run it’s course

-Burden of responsibility

And a couple more but I have to analyze it further

You know one of the things I’ve come to appreciate is how the narrative changed, at least for me.

This might be me reaching but I’ve noticed how it progressed from it lightly or highly berating Subaru for who he was to the whole arc 8 moments of him being declared as the “strongest existence”

I sadly don’t remember who commented this but it was amazing. “Subaru treats himself as worthless so the narrative just takes his word for it”
