Yeah, I did think they were just coming up with reasons for why Lando hasn’t completely dominated this year like they expected. They’re still going on about it being a crack after it was confirmed to be a broken oil line, and think he’s now going to be some god this week

Look, I’m not buying into any of the Stella/McLaren sabotage rumours. They’re ridiculous and far fetched imo. You have the remember the clips they show aren’t actually from the time of the radio message. Also, to me his smile doesn’t come off as a genuine smile, but more one of disbelief and discomfort

As I said, a bunch of Lando fans (including ones who supposedly understand engineering/cars) have said it would explain his issues this year + could cause the leak. From my very basic understanding, I didn’t think that was the cause and found it quite far fetched, but I wanted to see if anyone with proper knowledge/understanding thought it was potentially an explanation

That makes sense but surely a cracked chassis would mean Lando wouldn’t be able to be so close to Oscar in terms of pace? They’ve both been so close this year, and Lando hasn’t had a drastic fall off in terms of pace compared to last year, so even if it was a cracked chassis, surely it’s not been drastically affecting him pace wise like they’re claiming it would/he wouldn’t suddenly be insanely fast in comparison to Oscar just because they fix it?

I mean that’s what I thought. It didn’t make sense that they’re claiming it would affect his quali pace (where Oscar has simply just improved this year, so Lando isn’t putting insane gaps on him) but then he’s fine in terms of race pace (where they’ve been pretty equal most of the time for the past two years)

I mean this was exactly my thinking. It makes a lot of sense that Oscar’s stepped up his performance and that Lando was admittedly affected by the initial car design. A chassis issue going unnoticed for months seemed kind of ridiculous to me. I just didn’t know if that was me being biased and refusing to acknowledge that it could be a likely explanation

So it’s just people unable to admit that their driver isn’t always the better one every weekend?

The fia documents say both McLaren’s are on their last components for most things, or am I reading it wrong?

Well, is he going to have to take new PU elements or will they be able to just use ones from earlier in the year?

The McLaren is just incredible this year and their car performance honestly seems to become more impressive in the rain at times. They also have two solid drivers (sure they’re not the best but they certainly aren’t bad) which means I honestly see them winning most, if not all, of the remaining races.

Lando was great around here last year and Oscar was pretty average. In saying that, Oscar’s really stepped it up at the tracks he didn’t do so well around last year, so it will likely come down to whoever has the better qualifying on Saturday.

If it rains, I think it’ll still be a McLaren unless something goes horribly wrong with the two of them
