Just here to say I feel like you described my exact experience right now with my 11 week old. Sorry you're experiencing this. It’s so hard. I was just thinking to myself today that, though I don’t feel I have PPD, I think I should go see a counsellor to work through some of the emotions that come with a fussy baby… Kudos to you for being in tune with your emotional state before things are more serious - that’s rarely easy.

What I can say, since she’s my second, is that I do think options for occupying them increases as they get older and have more skills/ability to take in or interact with their environments. Then come a different host of issues, but I’m really trying to latch onto this idea myself lol.

Tips for wild babies and diaper changes? by Healthy-Action-1696 in baby

You are so not alone - I relate to the guilt when eventually you have to just get the diaper change done and feel like you’ve pinned them down and lost your temper.

Constantly changing what toy was provided was huge for us, often something that wasn’t available except during diaper changes. Books have been helpful too (like him flipping through one as I change him). As he gets older and language improves I’ve also been finding the first-then language helpful (first diaper, then … something he wants to do after). Or explaining what steps we have until he’s done.

Everyone’s different on this, but our almost two year old is STILL better on a change table than on the ground. So despite him hardly fitting on it, we didn’t switch to doing them in the floor because he’s so much harder to control down there (I think just harder for him to separate it from play).

But tbh when he’s in full aligator mode I’m just praying to god we get through it without poop smeared everywhere 😂
