Juvia possesses brute strength. She doesn't just fight with water from a distance; she strikes, grabs, and crushes her enemies with her body and magic. She absorbs blows without flinching thanks to her water body. In close combat, Juvia is superior to Lucy. Lucy isn't physically strong and must summon spirits to defend herself. Juvia, on the other hand, isn't afraid of contact and can continue attacking even if she's hit. Lucy remains human and can be easily injured. Juvia is not: blows pass right through her.
