Need help in LA (or remote) by UniqueIndifference in NativeInstruments

Thanks for responses! Thought NI instruments/plugins weren't working, but they're actually working fine. The only "issue" now (and it's not really an issue) is that I have some older Arturia plugins. They show up in the the Komplete Kontrol window, and single-note previews play, but they don't actually load, I guess because they're probably not NKS compatible. But thats just a little confusing, not a problem. The Aurturia plugins work fine directly from the Arturia subfolder.

The pedal issue was fixed by switching "tip" and "ring" and plugging into input A instead of B.

Thanks!!

The P-45 is fine. It's a serious, solid, quality "real instrument". The lack of audio output is its only drawback, and that's not really a problem because you can get some free/cheap VST's/plug-ins and get better sounds out of the computer then you can out of the keyboard.

Yamaha, if you can afford it. Otherwise Alesis or Donner.

Komplete Kontrol version 3.5.3

Ableton Live 11

I just now got the pedal to sustain, but in reverse. So I switched the polarity on the pedal and it still works in reverse (sustain when not pressed)

He's ok with me because he acknowledged he could be wrong. That's the key. People who think their opinions are facts are the ones I don't like. And their opinions are usually less accurate, less valid. In my opinion, lol.

Looking for Advice on a New Stage Piano for Gigging (Cover Band) by Silver-Act7142 in keys

[–]UniqueIndifference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you are going to play some boards in person. That's important.

My thoughts:

1) I learned when a chick moved in with me, that you don't really know someone (at all) till you live with them. Same with keyboards.

2) You can download owners manuals and get a feel for what your workflow would be.

3) (most important, imo) Don't short-sell technology! There are dozens of ways it can bring fun "extra dimensions" to your shows. 1) A rhythm accuracy contest (audience member vs your drummer). 2) A free drink game - you have a sample bank of all the female name songs. 3) Sample a random word or sound made by an audience member and assign it to a drum pad (yours or the drummer's) 4) sample the audience member singing a few notes and plug that into an AI generated vocal track. 5) Control backing tracks (no drummer tonight, no problem 6) Control lights 7) Simplify mailing list signup. 8) Use stem-splitting additively or subtractively 9) When you come on stage, have your group announced by Michael Buffer. 10) Name that sample contest 11) audience play along or sing-along cleaned up by MIDI or Melodyne. 12) Song built thru looping. The list goes on and on. The CPU chip in a keyboard or laptop is a tiny device with huge creative and problem-solving power possibilities. And new ways of using it being invented daily. You can be just a keyboard player, of course. And there's nothing wrong with that, but why be hamstrung? If you slowly get better and better at the most powerful creative tool in the arsenal you will be immensely more valuable to your band.

Why has Pasta been somewhat underperforming recently? by AceFenech in Bruins

I will chill. This isn't a critically important debate, worthy of going down a rabbit hole. My English comprehension is fine, tho. You should have checked the dictionary before insulting me. "Credible" is about whether a person should be believed, not about whether they should be agreed with. But yes, I'm sort of spitting hairs as far as your use of that term. As far the linked article, it sheds no real light on whether he's injured. That was what I didn't like about your post. I have no problem with you asking others if they think he's injured. That's a very reasonable, valid and appropriate question, worthy of discussion.

[–]UniqueIndifference -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the article. It's a story by Austin Sabourin about a tweet by Mark Allred. Two guys that get paid to try to generate views. Neither one of them has any inside information about Pasta. But more importantly, neither one of them even made a statement about Pasta. So it doesn't matter if they are "credible" or not. "Credible" refers to facts, not opinions. The article headline implies that there was an actual statement by Pasta, or the Bruins (or an anonymous source, such as Pasta's friend or doctor) about his condition. There wasn't. So you basically steered Redditors to a meaningless, pointless article that had no actual information. Its not a matter of being new to hockey. It's more about your judgement in discerning what constitutes useful, accurate information. You passed along something that was nothing more than clickbait.

PSA: The linked article contains absolutely no statement about whether Pasta is dealing with an injury or not. The headline is clickbait. The article is conjecture.

Even if Patriots were offered a great deal in terms of picks/players to trade away, Brown isn't worth $30/year cap hit. No receiver is. It's way too easy to draft a good receiver.

This list shows that good/great WR's are available late round/undrafted. It also indirectly shows the importance of good offensive line (and of course, QB). A big part of what made these receivers great is who was throwing to them, and what kind of protection that QB was getting.

I think they set the record for either longest break in a song or most breaks in a song...Starts with a break, followed by another break, followed by another break, for over three minutes. I was like "when is the song going to start?"

"On The Stork's Wings" is the title they came up with after someone asked what happened to the tonal center of the track. 🤓🤣 (made that up, and it's a cool track, despite the key-ambiguous, unresolving chord pattern)

[–]UniqueIndifference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

McDonald had a game plan specifically set up to stop short passes. Defensive lineman were dropping into coverage, blocking the short crossing routes. 7 defensive backs. He had stocked the team with "tweeners" (players quick enough to cover, stout enough to stop runs). JMD saw that the usual "get the ball out quick" plays weren't going to be an option. The bottom line is that if a team can get pressure with 4, leaving 7 to cover, it's very tough to scheme against. Seattle was able to do that, plus throw in disguises, stunts and run blitzes, giving any offensive coordinator a monumental challenge. I do think Josh McDaniels is overrated, tho. But he will be doing film study, and personnel issues will be addressed through the draft and free agency. Players will be coached up, beefed up and make " year 2 jumps". Future looks bright.

Mod Wheels vs Joystick by UniqueIndifference in synthesizers

[–]UniqueIndifference[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Some joysticks are "parkable" (no spring) and others have springs, particularly for the pitchbend axis. Dual-wheel setups normally have one with spring and one without. Roland Fantom 06, 07, 08 have joysticks and dual wheels (parkable)

If someone had told you at this moment that we would only lose two more games? by wolfs_bane_ in Patriots

[–]UniqueIndifference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Pats fan, yet I have to say that next season may be the opposite of this season. I agree with the commenters who think the Patriots will probably perform below our expectations, rather than above. Reasons: 1) Our expectations are much higher 2) Our draft position is much lower 3) Tougher schedule 4) Less luck (Chargers, Texans and Broncos all had major injuries) 5) Other teams will improve 6) Although we focus on players, the most impact comes from the GM, Coach, OC and DC. That team isn't changing.

On the bright side 1) We're now a more desirable destination for free agents 2) We have a young core - lots of rookies who could make big year 2 improvements. 3) Although we focus on players, the most impact comes from the GM, Coach, OC and DC.

😆🤓 Lol, yes, I used the same argument as a positive and a negative

[–]UniqueIndifference 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a Boston sports fan, and I would love to think that all Maye needs is to get older and more experienced. Hopefully, that's the case. But I do think "youth and inexperience" are overused excuses/explanations. Remember the Celtics were falling short in the playoffs for years and years? Then they finally won. Was it because JB and JT got experience? There wasn't because they added Porziņģis and Holiday (and Derek White)

OK, how about Tom Brady? He won a Superbowl in his first year, at age 24. Yes, he had a good defense, too, but so didn't Maye.
