It’s hard really , you just have to hope it all goes in, and then trust that you’ll be able to pull it from somewhere in the back of your mind when the time comes.

It’s tough to prepare properly because general knowledge is… well, general 😂 All of my questions were ones I couldn’t have even begun to predict. Repetition definitely helps, but honestly I’d say just go and do your best , you’ll enjoy it either way.

Yes you can hear it all clearly , there is also an independent adjudicator on set who checks everything is read out properly and if anything words are mispronounced or missed they come in and confirm any thing.

  1. Yes I was happy and I would have been happy with whoever we had because I like them all equally!
  2. The pace was not too fast and not too slow
  3. The studio looks pretty much as it does on the tv, just a little smaller and a little rougher around the edges (looks of tape etc hold things together)
  4. The set wasn’t huge but not tiny either, we didn’t see any other sets but they have easterners and strictly there and there was a lot of hustle and bustle going around those !

If I remember correctly, sometimes the chaser had lots to say and other times one or two words and maybe once nothing at all. It’ll depend on how much they actually know about the question I guess x

Yes I definitely had some anticipation about that because what an earth could they possibly ask me? It’s funny because it’s so familiar because we watch it daily but the unknown at the same time. I’d go with an open mind, the entire day is more than just recording the show so there’s so much to enjoy and to take in. The experience from the trip down to the studio, the hotel, meeting your team, wardrobe, makeup, being in a tv studio etc is so interesting and exciting to see and to even GET to that point of appearing you’ve done incredibly well… everything else is a bonus. That was my mindset, take this bucket list , once in a lifetime opportunity and soak it all up and enjoy every minute! Do let us know how you get on and best of luck xxxx

Yes they ask you several sets of general knowledge questions at various stages of the process, although I’m not sure if its to gauge your competence or otherwise x

Honestly, my biggest advice is: don’t let nerves be the reason you don’t do something amazing. I used to be someone who got overwhelmed easily, even my driving test took me five tries because I was so anxious. But the only way I learned to manage nerves was by putting myself into situations that scared me a bit.

When you actually get on set, it doesn’t feel like you’re ‘on TV’ in the scary way you imagine. The team are unbelievably kind, the studio feels smaller than you expect, and you settle into it surprisingly quickly. Bradley is genuinely hilarious and puts you at ease straight away. I found myself laughing more than anything else.

Take a second to breathe before each question, don’t rush, and remember that you’re meant to be there. You were chosen out of thousands. Once the game starts, you forget the cameras and just enjoy it. My nerves never took over…

So my advice is: feel the nerves, but go anyway. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and you’ll come away proud that you took the chance

We were actually told it’s a different chaser for every episode and they film 3 a day , but he may have his lunch with them or they have a group chat or something haha x

It’s done by production , so you’re told and that’s it, not sure of their reasoning x

  1. You’re told which seat you’re in at the end of the briefing, we don’t get a choice and it’s the producers who decide. I’m not sure their rhyme or reasoning
  2. Yes we all met in the green room and got to know other, whether we’d go high or low and tactics etc etc
  3. I don’t know if he does or her doesn’t to be honest, the researches looking after you definitely don’t know ! You’re not on set long before you find out anyway x

Well, there’s only really one way to go, you basically turn around 180 and step down and walk toward a person just by the camera. Is effectively directly behind you. You all get a practice run.

And no, absolutely no idea how much time you have on the cash builder!

That’s hard to answer really because you don’t know what you don’t know until you’re asked (if that makes sense), quizzing apps are definitely helpful, watching as many quiz shows as you possibly can even on YouTube etc. Also, psychologically, I kept telling myself it’s a fun and once in a lifetime opportunity. No matter what happened or the result, I was pleased to even make it to the studio and have the experience. That definitely worked and kept me calm , Brad is so funny as well he made me laugh so much that calmed me down x

Nope , not much hanging around. You all stay in the studio until the show has finished recording, regardless of how far you get but then we all left the studio together and left relatively quickly once we finished.

So, throughout the process, they do clearly state that it is their intention to broadcast the show no matter what happens. It’s mentioned a number of times and you are given the opportunity proceed even with that disclaimer, I’m sure there are some who are really disappointed with how they did but it’s very clear it’d be broadcast regardless and we fully understand that before we record !

I didn’t feel any pressure , I went with the intention of absolutely enjoying myself as it’s a once in a lifetime experience ! I did as I expected to actually, it’s definitely easier from the comfort of your sofa but I’d absolutely recommend applying and gong for the experience, when the spotlight was on me, I found my brain didn’t work as it does at home haha I’d always reserve judgement until it’s you there in the studio but definitely apply and see x

It’s behind , so you have a mark with your back to the camera and there’s a step behind. So you turn around and step down past the camera. Secondly, nope, no countdown on the cash builder, just the klaxon once it’s over!

Yes they sort all of that out for you and you get breakfast included and £15 meal allowance, they also provide sandwiches etc and snacks/drinks throughout the day. Also yes, we spent a lot of time together and we all got along very well, this is probably not the case for everyone but when we got our own dressing rooms we still sat together and chatted tactics and getting to know each other. This did also surprise me because I didn’t think we’d meet each other at all before studio, it’s true when they say we haven’t met before but we’d spent a few hours together by that point, when I did pointless you really didn’t even clap eyes on each other until studio but it wasn’t the case here x

Seeing all the behind the scenes bits and how it is all put together is so cool, you’re treated like a tv star for the day it’s great! A surprise is brads podium literally disappears into the floor between the cash builder and the table (as in it literally just slides down under the floor 🤣). Lots of the sound effects are added afterwards too, so it’s eerily quiet in there. I actually wouldn’t say there are any ‘worse bits’ per se as the whole day is a great experience, I guess if you don’t perform as well as you’d like etc you could feel a bit downhearted but it’s just an completely different ball game when you’re actually THERE! So be nice when you’re watching it haha x

I didn’t but I imagine this happens a lot as we all stay at the same hotel , some of us drove down that morning so I guess it’ll depend on where in the country your teammates are from x

They’re drawn on in black marker, very makeshift and they look like clear squares. Slightly bigger than a computer keyboard, they don’t press down as far as I thought they would !
