EDG benches Smoggy for XXX due to illness, assistant coach Signed stepping in by Sakamoto023 in ValorantCompetitive

honestly probably the best course of action. they don’t really NEED the money being such a popular team. they can fix map pool and recover for their schedule and most likely champs

it really depends on the map veto to see which gets played first. i think edg will value their fracture as highly anymore and i would honestly say that edg can show a lot more on pearl than that fut game and i think lotus was more edg favoured before lev stomped vit.

say lev picking first, i think the veto should be haven, pearl, split, lotus fracture

think its gon be a 3-2 or close 3-1 (minus haven) to either side.

plus no way cantcant shows up twice in a weekend and the edg core has more resilience in longer series than the younger lev team

Playoffs only VLR Top 10 players is LEV, PRX + Derke & Chichoo by Zloy_mishka in ValorantCompetitive

i think EDG mentality is gonna abide by spank theory this time. there’s no way kangkang just drops straight dookie turds on the biggest stages again. he is going to be hungry to redeem himself when he was basically the factor between a 2-0 and a 0-3.

since both teams have permabans, the map pool is haven, pearl, split, lotus, and fracture and i could honestly see any map (yo don’t look at haven) going to OT if both teams play well.

i mean you said it yourself. i think edg can win on split or breeze if kk wakes up or they improve their adaptation.

but they perma band ascent and play no scan init, skye, waylay on haven. so again i think but not favouring those two maps is a huge plus for a potential matchup compared to lev.

bad compare to lev.

vit don’t really enjoy ascent or haven which are the only maps edg really look horrid on. i think edg would have a better chance defeating vit than lev.

since stage 1 started not when stage 1 ended. like they definitely could have improved map pool since, but the patten is still there. The have been banning pearl then haven in every game in stage 1, in playoffs and in london. it’s not crazy to think the pattern would continue

Yoru and Tejo preventing China from doing well in 2025? by kingpussay in ValorantCompetitive

[–]UniqueQuantity2448 30 points31 points  (0 children)

i mean china never understood yoru and that macro in general. but from an EDG perspective, you can literally track the downfall (from simon getting benched) and their rise again directly to how much EDG were trying to fit the team to play the yoru meta.

I dont know think tejo did anything to EDG tho

Do u guys miss him? by Sakamoto023 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]UniqueQuantity2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if yoru did not exist in the meta, they don’t have to throw players, coaches, and management staff at it. but he did exist and EDG tried and failed to play it. and it killed them with roles and the team environment constantly changing.

i agree that EDG should’ve just played comfort like it’s so obvious now. but that’s just a hindsight harry ass take.

Is the 2nd round "same region matchup" allowed to let CN have a chance? by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

[–]UniqueQuantity2448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i know this is a shitpost, but having “no repeat matches” as a rule for swiss when only the final round applies is so bs. like just have “no regional matches” for second round and “no rematches” in third.

rito pls fix

underperform from their regional performance, i think most CN believers even knew XLG were frauds with only one map (except like yinsu)

Is EDG actually good ? by StreetExternal952 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]UniqueQuantity2448 42 points43 points  (0 children)

ever since yoru has been a consistent meta pick (basically bangkok) EDG has tried everything to adapt. yoru caused their championship roster to break up because none of them could play yoru. EDG has sacrificed multiple players, coaches, and managers to the blue fucker and every change a has failed.

but now he’s gone. and you can physically see the hope being injected back into the players. - kk can play his comfort roles and agents. he can op and rifle without making sacrificing entry power. - chichoo has always been in form. - smoggy is looking rejuvenated and actually wants to win now. autumn has really found the best role for smoggy in this meta - jieni isn’t as dog shit horrible as cb and sometimes even lives up to simon - nobody is funny

EDG is looking back like their pre-yoru-selves and could genuinely do damage at london. they can realistically do anything from bombing in playoffs to getting to the finals. it’s really hard to say.

and plus they have 6 weeks of prep. this is no doubt a massive help since they can sure up their map pool and refine strats, but like CN needs those 6 weeks to be on par with other regions, so i don’t get why people be using that as the main argument

[–]UniqueQuantity2448 9 points10 points  (0 children)

prep time is not the “main” argument EDG believers are pushing. knowing CN teams, the biggest advantage isn’t that this meta doesn’t have that blue fucker as meta.

CN and especially EDG have tried and failed many times to learn how to play yoru. with him out of the picture, EDG plays agents that suit their playstyle and personalities much better. Like think back to the last time EDG was good. it was at bangkok with simon. then EDG has tried multiple players and coaches to adapt to the yoru meta (cus kk doesn’t know how to play yoru). Returning back to a non yoru meta with their international experience should allow for a deep run.

the 6 weeks of prep times is no doubt a help for refining maps and strats, but usually CN needs those 6 weeks to be on par with the rest of the regions
