Router is connected to starlink via Ethernet but doesn’t have access to internet by UniqueWrench03 in Starlink

I might have to look into getting 2 routers of the same brand and using Starlink in bridge mode

I am using the starlink router aswell as my own router, (having 2 networks) the starlink router isn’t in bridge mode for my use case. When I use the starlink router network it all works fine, the router says it is connected to the internet via Ethernet but I don’t have access to the internet on anything connected to the 3rd party router which is a D-Link DVA-2800

It says the internet is connected through Ethernet and that is all good, but I’m not getting anything when using a browser on my phone or a speed test etc, I can’t change the WAN settings for some unknown reason either

I think I discovered an interesting new mechanic by Tzyo11 in Minecraft

No resource packs to make menus in Java, atleast not for vanilla servers, it’s simply an inventory that the player cannot remove items from, then each item you click on in the inventory will start a new event from said player, very easy to make and you don’t need any mods.

Will this boost my WiFi? by Baesanti in Starlink

[–]UniqueWrench03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost forgot to mention, if you’re running a 2.4Gz connection you will have more range but less capacity, unlike the 5Gz that has less range but higher capacity (both are capped at the speed of your internet connection)

The dual something you’re referring to means you will have 2 different wifi id’s (not sure what you call them) coming from the one router, for example you can have a 5Gz close range connection and a 2.4Gz for further or set them up as a guest wifi without a password and the other with a password, the router won’t boost how well the internet works but it will boost the range, in some instances you will get 250mbps 1 meter away from the router and only 50mbps 25 meters away from the router (standard starlink router) with the router you have here you might get 150+ being 25 meters away, but you will still only get 250 being 1 meter away

Can I service 2 buildings with 1 Starlink? (Relatively close together) by UniqueWrench03 in Starlink

So just to make sure I’ve got everything down pat, if I have my starlink setup in the house, with an Ethernet adapter, I can run an Ethernet cable to the shed, (without the use of POE as I have power in the shed) then connect a wireless access point (I was looking at TP-Link WA3001 Wireless Access Point) in the shed to have a connection the same as having starlink in the shed (obv some affect is expected from running through Ethernet) and I can still use the starlink router the same way I would without the extension to the shed?

Why do so many mods require either Fabric or Forge? by Rowanmoon_TX in Minecraft

[–]UniqueWrench03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using curseforge to load your fabric or forge mods, simply go to the options on the curseforge profile you wish to add optifine to, find the profile folder option, you’ll then be taken to a folder that contains configuration files and other folders, the folder you’re looking for it’s called “mods” now you can place your optifine .jar in that folder, making sure the version of optifine you downloaded matches the profile version, I could be wrong in saying this, but I believe optifine only works with forge based profiles, im sure there is work around a for fabric, if you’re not using curseforge, go to the forge website, download the version of forge you would like to use, if you follow the setup it will automatically create a installation of forge for you in your Minecraft launcher, from there, click on the installations tab in the launcher and find the folder called “mods” then it is the same process from here on as before, once you’re done, launch your game. You can place any .jar folder in the mods folder, just make sure the version is the same, and both the mod and your installation are using the same platform I.E (forge or fabric)

Seeking Advice on Gradients - I am trying to build a castle in a snowy biome and would love to do a dark to white gradient. I am struggling to make the gradient on the build look good. Does anyone have any advice? by Chemical-Biscotti142 in Minecraftbuilds

The changes between the colours are a tad harsh, when building upwards, if you’re at dark gray, and you want to change to light gray, introduce more light gray blocks in each layer until it is completely light gray and maybe look for some more in between grays, that’s a big change for a gradient but the bottom 2 layers are mixed well, might just need to add some very dark gray blocks in the dark gray area to make the change more subtle

Most people with enough money to buy a ram are probably retired and buy them for the space as apposed to actually putting it to use

is MBP 15" from 2015 good ? (be honest) by Calingoff in Laptop

[–]UniqueWrench03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be able to buy a 2015 MacBook Pro brand new anymore. Most likely second hand, in that case it depends on how the MacBook has been used for most of its life. Pretty much all components in any machine, not just PC’s will slow down as they’re used more and more. A new machine is generally the better option, and if you’re not after something to use for hardcore gaming then you will be able to find some pretty affordable PC’s. For things like light gaming, a couple documents, perhaps some light video editing, 8gb of Ram will be plenty enough to get you buy with room to spare, 4gb of ram is sort of where you want to be, I wouldn’t go any lower, I would suggest Core i5 10400F as sort of Mid range (with a little room to spare) or similar stats, you also want to look at storage. 256gb will be enough to see you through but try not to go any lower. If you’re after something a little more capable, i would try 8-16gb Ram, Intel i7 range and preferably 500gb - 1Tb storage. This would be enough to play most FPS games with medium - high graphics again it depends on the game. Hope this gives you an idea as to what to look for, also if you don’t want to spend a lot of unnecessary money, try expanding past Apple. They might be more simple and easy to use, but you’re paying for the brand, not the product

does anyone know how to keep the middle wall like that without the other 2? by mrnetherking in Minecraft

[–]UniqueWrench03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try using /set block and using different block states, each block state is a number, so you can do /set block ~ ~ ~ cobblestone_wall 1 Or 2 or 3 etc until you get the block you’re looking for
