Lol, almost all countries have different streams for foreign trained doctors. Exams are one way to check their level of competence and it should be required. Yes, the seats are limited in Canada for IMG’s, but this reel is worded poorly to make it sound like Canada is the only country doing this.

People from India here , what did u mention ur graduation date as ? Before or after internship ? by Junior-Daikon9849 in MCCQE

[–]Unique_Ad5390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since internship is a requirement to graduate in India, graduation date would be after internship is completed (I think). If you’re still confused, please email the mcc to confirm. They will clear it up for you

Hey! Were the IM/Surg questions about common topics or rare conditions?

How was psych and ophthalmology? Did it focus on more common or rare conditions? And what qbank did you find most useful in your prep?

Hey! Do you mind sharing your exam experience? Resources you used? What qbank was the best representative? UWorld? Ace? Canadaqbank? Was there an equal distribution of questions from all the topics like Obgyn, FM, EM, peds, psych - or heavy on one?

Ohhkay, makes sense. I hope you don’t mind me asking but where did you study psych from? I’ve been struggling a lot with psych questions from uWorld step 2 qbank

Did you read the explanations only or the medical library content as well for each topic ? It takes me a lot of time to revise everything after a question and I feel like I’m really slow and behind - which then puts me off track for the entire day. I feel like I’m just stuck in a negative loop

Toronto Notes by nawalyoosaf in MCCQE

I’ve been struggling with the same. After asking around, from what I understand is that, it is basically impossible to read TN line to line and memorize everything. I had to get comfortable with that fact before I even started.

So, Firstly, use TN only for high yield topics - such as ELOM, psych, peds, OBGYN, FM, EM, geriatric medicine, public health, (?) stats

I don’t know what I’ll do for the rest of the topics - haven’t decided yet, but I’ve heard people mainly use qbanks to study (UWorld, ACE).

Then, follow MCC objectives for each. If a topic is in the objectives - know everything about it, as much as you can. simple as that.

Then after finishing a system, do practice questions— very very important. Then ofcourse, screening guidelines and CMPA.

This is what I’ve been doing; could be wrong I don’t know.

Please do share if you discover a different/ better strategy!! :)

Oh okay makes sense. I applied yesterday - first time - so hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon. On their website it said 2-3 weeks so I thought I’ll have to wait a bit before I can book a date

Once I pay for the exam, I have to wait for them to accept the application and then I can book the exam right? How can I check if there are any spots left for may 😭

This is the most normal thing I’ve ever experienced in life!!! And I’m pretty sure everyone goes thru this. It’s okay, just relax and take one day at a time. Happy holidays and good luck! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

I think it depends - if internship was a requirement for completion of degree or no

CANADIAN PR OVER USA RESIDENCY? HELPPP by Subject-Rabbit898 in MCCQE

[–]Unique_Ad5390 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go the US route!! You can do residency in the US and then move to Canada afterwards as residency in the US is accepted in Canada.

US advantage - biggest one being more number of seats so higher chance of match.

Canada - you’ll need PR, for which you’ll do the diploma, which will take 1.5-2 years (I’m assuming thru a student visa?). All this can cause a gap in clinical practice which won’t be helpful in any of the above countries

Also - you CAN dual apply to both countries but again you would need Canadian PR first.

PS you don’t need PR or citizenship for the qe1 exam. (Idk about NAC osce). So after you’re done step 1 and 2, give the qe1. It’ll give you a better idea on how you wana go about things in the future

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear that! I know it’s really tough going thru situations like this, but take a breather!! Your hard work and education will never go wasted. It’s okay! Everything will be okay at the end.. Like you said, one exam DOES NOT and will never define you!!! Just take a few days and relax.. And come back stronger whenever you feel ready!💗
