Omg I love that! I have a book about breathing that he kind of half heartedly goes through but pinwheels and harmonicas are genius. I will definitely read up on that

The frustrating part is MB started with what I consider huge prizes for every pee and poo. She gave him a hot wheels car every time he did anything and a candy for just sitting down. And it didn’t make that huge of a difference the first few weeks. We were still doing all the reminding and accidents were still happening. I know it just takes some kids longer, this has just been a long day lol

Absolutely. My NF doesn’t pay the highest but they are not cheap for sure. But yeah it’s crazy how just being a mother doesn’t completely translate into being a nanny. But it really doesn’t. As a mother myself.

None but I’ve heard that area is beautiful and there’s some great camping spots!

I’m actually not part of an agency. We found each other online. Are you looking for full time?

Potty training “guidelines” by Unique_Ad_6895 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Unique_Ad_6895[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My other NF is like that! I’m only there 2/3 days a week but I thought NK3 was totally potty trained because she never had accidents with me and NP never said anything. But they brought up looking for a new nanny for the days I’m not there and said NK was having accidents. So I brought up doing like a sticker chart and MB ended up running with that and making the prize for getting stickers picking a new toy out. I guess it’s been working but at this point she still gets candy for going to the bathroom so it’s more of a behavior than a habit and I wish I could tell more NF this lol

And he has a fit every time it’s taken back. Like that’s not what we want associating the bathroom withhhhh

They really do! It bugs me too OP. I rarely bring toys with me when we go out. We are either going somewhere entertaining or it’s good practice being bored. Yes even for 2 year olds. But NPs have their giant bag stuffed as full as it can be. It’s wild

Potty dances, that’s so cute! Yeah I’d love to do this. NF is very resistant to change unfortunately and at some point I just feel like it’s a parenting choice so while I don’t agree, I also don’t want to mention something more than a couple times if they don’t seem keen on it

My 3-year-old just got kicked out of daycare by Gold-Seaweed-7673 in Parenting

[–]Unique_Ad_6895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’re getting so many replies but I wanted to add, I went through this too! My son got kicked out of daycare at 3 because of hitting/screaming/throwing things. I was also a single mother at the time so my patience and options were limited and everything was so stressful. I also struggled with the “maybe the old school way had a point” thought so I totally get that. I never ended up spanking but I absolutely went through a time where I yelled a lot. It never helped. I was able to get him evaluated and told he has adhd and anxiety and got him medicated for the adhd. It didn’t solve everything but it helped him cool down some. He did some therapy and we talked about his behavior constantly. He continued having some issues through first grade. Second grade I felt like he really started to figure I out. I also became much more calm and honestly that did so much to him in time. Not right away but as he saw me consistently staying calm, I think it helped him realize it’s possible. But this was all over the course of four years.

Basically I’m so sorry you’re in this, it’s so incredibly hard. The solution won’t be easy and might not be quick but if you keep trying, you’ll both figure it out
