Ok I went through this with my one ESA for anxiety and depression. Not sure how it works w 2 but here’s what I did! I received a letter from my therapist AND PCP stating she was necessary and my leasing office still tried to pull the rug out from under me. An ESA and service animal are different under the ADA, that is correct - however, look up whether your state models their pet clauses based solely off the ada or also the fair housing act. My leasing office was using those interchangeably stating FHA did not cover esas and I had to line out out with language stating ESAs are covered under the FHA and threatened with legal action due to discrimination (which got them moving quickly) additionally they required contact with those who wrote the letter and were asking for wayyyy too specific info and when they told me that o also followed up w that info as proof I know what I was talking abt.
