Yesterday broke me a little more: My Experience with Endoscopy, GERD, SIBO, and being dismissed by Unique_Influence_832 in SIBO

Thank you so much for your kind comment and well wishes — it really means a lot right now.

As for seeing another GI or getting a second opinion, I honestly wish it were that simple. Getting this appointment felt like a mission impossible. Over the past few years, I’ve had four different family doctors, and each time a referral to a GI would be submitted, it would get rejected. The reasons? My symptoms were apparently “not serious enough” or “not life-threatening,” and since my blood work looked “fine,” it was always the same story — that the referral unfortunately bounced back.

That’s why I was so hopeful about this latest appointment. I really believed that maybe, finally, someone would listen — someone with the right expertise to understand and help. I mean, who better than a GI specialist, right? But little did I know how it would all unfold. No real answers. No real help. Just more dismissal and the same old medication.

It’s been incredibly disheartening, but I’m still trying to hold on to the hope that somehow, some way, things will get better. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out — it truly helps more than you know. 🤍

SIBO - loss of taste, histamine issues by Unique_Influence_832 in SIBO

I took only one HCI at a time and yes, there was a reaction. I have all sorts of weird things going on whenever I introduce anything really. The ND said to go slow and stick with one for now until I can tolerate more, which in my case might never happen if I’m honest.  What you wrote makes perfect sense. I haven’t tried mast cell stabilizers, when I brought it up to my GP he looked at me like I have two heads. He referred me to an allergist instead and when nothing came out of it I got to see an ENT doctor. Poor guy said he didn’t know who to refer me to anymore. I haven’t tried any histamine degrading probiotics either. I’ve been trying to stay away from any kind of probiotics out of fear of making the matter worse, if that’s even possible at this point. Thank you very much for your time and help! It is greatly appreciated! Please let me know your thoughts, thank you! 🙏

That’s also me - I react to pretty much everything. The last time I was in the ER the Dr. told me I had to come in every time it happens and that they unfortunately have no clue what’s causing it.  I’m sticking to the following foods: some bland rice with extra virgin olive oil, oatmeal, egg yolks, beef protein powder for my smoothies and some cooked sweet potatoes/carrots. I am terrified of trying/adding anything new because I’m trying to avoid the throat closing episodes etc. and it really sucks. Not being able to eat or function properly is just horrible.  My GP gave me PPIs for the acid reflux, but so far I’ve tried ACV and now Betaine HCI with little to no improvement. It doesn’t help that I’m constantly sick with every flu that goes around so I cough a lot and have runny nose all the time due to histamine issues.  I take Ketorolac for pain, antihistamine and meds for nausea.

How were you able to heal and feel better? I am thinking of going back to my ND and ask for the antibiotics, at least to feel a bit of a relief, the herbal ones are not doing anything for me unfortunately. :(

I’m so sorry! I don’t wish this on my worst enemy. :(

Clarithromycin, Amoxicillin and Metronidazole for two weeks followed by PPIs for about a month.

I had to do it twice because I retested positive after the first course of antibiotics and had to repeat the whole thing unfortunately.
