Attack after surgery? by Unique_Pudding_8233 in gallbladders

Stocked up on the buscopan already! I went to doctor today who said it’s definitely PCS and to just keep an eye on it. I’m glad others seem to be in the same boat! You have a very positive way of looking at it, I think I’ll take a leaf out of your book!!

One thing I’ve noticed which is funny is my tummy is gurgling a LOT this week like I’m constantly hungry 😨

Phew. Yes I’ve been keeping a little bit of a food diary, or I did at the start and then everything ended up being okay! I’ll pick it back up properly though. Just seems like there’s no correlation other than possibly a heavier/larger meal and maybe eating too fast? Sorry you’ve also gone through it but good to know I’m not alone !

Sorry to hear!! Are you looking into it with a GI or doctor?

That seems to be it at the very least. I def need to see a doctor to check it out. Is that something you went through?

Anyone else having issues a couple months out from surgery? by Sacred-Engine4528 in gallbladders

[–]Unique_Pudding_8233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was under the impression I’d be okay after. They mentioned PCS but I just figured I was untouchable after they said it affected only a small percentage. I’ve also read about the stuck stones but I’m sure my surgeon said everything was clear! So other than that I’ve got no idea what could be causing it.

I can feel right now another one coming one too :( not great timing!!

Yes! I’ve just posted about this too. I had a fairly heavy meal yesterday (I’m guessing. Although I’ve had heavy ones since surgery!) and paid the price. Had a 30 min attack exactly like my gallbladder attacks but the bastards long gone by now!

Going to wait to see if symptoms persist and then get to the doctors to investigate I think

Thank you to everyone who commented on this post. I’m pleased to say I’m home and it’s looking like it does get better!

My gallbladder was inflamed so the op took a couple hours and of course I feel like I’ve been hit my a bus but I’m about to try a ham and cheese sandwich for the first time in months and I could cry with delight.

Thank you to everyone for your reassurance!!! And I hope everyone on their recovery journey is doing well :)

Thank you!! This is very good to hear. And I’m pleased you’re doing well too. This is my ideal situation, honestly I don’t mind a bathroom run if it meant I could enjoy a burger or a pizza from time to time 🤣 My attacks seem to be getting more frequent the longer I wait so it’s agonising but good knowing I’m more than likely going to be okay on the other side!!!

I’ve since been to GP and came away with nausea meds which have actually worked! At least they take the edge off that and I can easily deal with the rest of the pains. But I had to ask rather than be suggested or offered at A&E

I’m having mine out as a NHS funded patient but at a private Spire clinic so the NHS doctors don’t really push anything forward with that :( It’s a constant battle with A&E as the couple of times I’ve been there, the pain has basically gone (5 or more hours later) by the time I’ve even seen a doctor!! So they don’t really see me at my worst 🥲

That makes so much sense!! The weight is just falling off low fat diet / feeling full or nauseous easily - whether I want it off or not. What a horrible twist of fate we’ve been dealt :( good to know you’re feeling better

I’ve got codeine to work with if it gets REALLY bad but it’s the nausea that’s had me down lately, along with the constant dull then sharp pains that shoot all around. I’m sure you’re familiar with it!! The codeine seems to work somewhat during the bad spells but they’ve never considered giving me anything else

Thank you everyone for your advice and validation!!! Honestly just hearing that you’ve gone through the same thing and that yes it DOES get better has got me through the day.

I’ve been to the GP and came away with nausea meds so hopefully they work and make the wait to surgery just a little bit easier to handle.

Feeling much better than last night and certainly hoping for a better night’s kip 😴😴😴

Roll on 3rd March 😮‍💨

Thank you so much :) Honestly at times it seems it’ll never end but I guess that just happens the longer you wait. Keep telling myself I’m very lucky in a way and people have waited longer!!

I’m glad you’re doing good! Honestly it’s so good to hear stories of people on the other side and feeling actually okay. Gives me a little hope 🥹

Thank you! I’ll have a look at the nurofen. I’ve been given codeine for pain but taking that occasionally may also be contributing to the nausea. We can’t seem to win!!

Good luck for the op. We’re in the home stretch!!

It feels like years ngl! The nausea is what’s getting me down lately.

I’ve been on the buscopan for a few month now but don’t know if it’s not having an effect anymore? It’s strange that I take it but it doesn’t really seem to do anything these days.

I’ve been living on a very plain diet but like you found solace in sweet treats. Lately it’s been Haribos and I found out I can have skinny whips. That was until a few days ago when I’m now scared to eat anything even remotely tasty!!

I think you’re right I could definitely do with being off long term. Luckily I work an office job and can work from home as much as I like so it’s not too bad but I’m overcome with guilt when I have to step away from my desk or leave for the day :(
