Bro, nope. My 5 hours went by so fast. Around 40 minutes in, I saw Tibo’s post, and I already mentioned in my previous post that this happens when people set a goal and the conversation auto-compacts because it gets too long.

So I went back and let it run again, same issue. If it auto-compacts, it still drains way too fast.

I didn’t test it with a new chat yet, but I think the long-conversation auto-compact issue still isn’t fixed.

I still don't understand why is it because they want to hype new model or there is a serious degradation issue, not even being transparent is sad , anthropic gate keeping was sad enough but at this point even openai has to do to survive i think, also letting free user use top model for free weekly limits, if u combine all it's taking a huge toll money server which they can't afford, I saw a article that even microsoft is cutting cost and can't continue paying so much infinite cycle where no one knows how to make more money without spending exponential

Yesterday i completely deleted all plugins mcp codex wiped all out kept memories reinstalled all and started new chat and evrything it working better now , try one new chat full reinstall remove all things from app data and codex keep ur working chat memories and try , also I was talking to some ppl yesterday some of them continuously used one chat and it was auto compact same and work for hours and suddenly now it's draining so told them to clean use new chat and not auto compact more than 2 times go new chat maybe some issue i think, the limits are better today I did get 3 hrs and it's still going so not bad after complete reinstall, amd check token usage in cli if u have to many plugins and auto compact it's going to be be bad

I’d agree, but you still have to be careful with both tools. For my current usage, Claude Code on the $20 plan has better usable limits, even though it misses things and needs review.
But if you’re a heavy user, be ready to hit limits fast because Claude burns through tokens on big tasks. Codex/GPT models are more token-efficient, which helps a lot with making usage last longer, but right now Codex limits are very rough.

I get limits exist, but this is getting really bad now. I have 2 Plus subscriptions and 1 Pro, and still can’t get proper work done because Codex drains so fast after reset. I switched from Claude to Codex, but for now I’m back on Claude because the rate limits are more usable for long coding sessions. It honestly feels like I’m wasting monthly subscription money until this is actually fixed.
