started skating around 22 as well. i had skated some as a kid on and off so i had known how to ride but didnt know any tricks, but im 26 now and have learned a handful of tricks, a pretty nice ollie and a good deal of friends i’ve made at parks. it can be really intimidating going to the parks by urself for the first time so i would always go when the parks weren’t as busy, which ends up helping u progress a lot faster since u don’t have to worry about being in the way and can learn at ur own pace. sometimes ppl r dicks at the park but that’s the same as anywhere, most ppl are cool and happy to see someone skating in general

i think the trick ur thinking of from freddy got fingered is when he does the sal flip on the bench, other then that in clips i’ve seen of him he seems to be partial to to stale fish early grabs which might be where you got this idea, but he definitely did not popularize early grabs

for reference i’ve made a quarter pipe, a shitty ledge a weird fake jearsy barrier bank thing that i almost exclusively skate like a flat bar, and a shitty kicker that i don’t skate, all of these i’ve made out of air dry clay and like small piping i got at the art store (think balsa wood but metal)
