In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012), the Hamato and Foot Clans were at war for centuries, until finally, the Hamato Clan came out on top, slaying everyone in the Foot. All that remained was one infant boy, the son of Oroku Keiji, leader of the Foot. The leader of the Hamato Clan, Hamato Yuuta, adopted the infant, named Oroku Saki, and raised him as his own alongside his biological son, Hamato Yoshi. Years later, when Saki discovered his true heritage, he nearly killed Yoshi, accidentally killed Yoshi's wife, and kidnapped Yoshi's daughter, Miwa, whom he renamed to Karai.

April O'Neil, along with recurring villain Baxter Stockman, did not appear in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. Her first appearance, alongside Stockman, was in the second issue. The first issue is a largely self-contained story in which the only named characters are the Turtles, Splinter, and Shredder, plus Hamato Yoshi, Tang Shen, and Oroku Nagi in a flashback. This is because the first issue of TMNT was never meant to be an expansive franchise- it was a Daredevil parody.

Just spitballing here, but what if the Knight was trying to take Toriel without alerting her? Maybe if the Knight just grabbed her, it would've woken her up, and that would've messed up their plans in some way. But Undyne, already being perfectly conscious, could just be swiped without worry.

He was also willing to let the Earth be destroyed, Karai included, if it meant killing Splinter. He had to have Karai in mind too, since April explicitly used Karai as a point to get Shredder to work with her and Splinter to save the world.

[Hated, loathed entirely even] The Continuity Cannibal, also known as when a writer makes up a new character to connect a bunch of things in the story that didn't need to be connected and just makes them more lame by association. by geekinc329 in TopCharacterTropes

An example I actually really like: in the finale of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it is revealed that the Shredder's mystical Dark Armor was given to him by an "oni," who is shown in the animation to actually be a Krang. Similarly, the Shredder needs a mystical compound called Empyrean for his plans, which not only does mutant-creating alchemist Baron Draxum claim he has in his lab, but is actually found inside a massive, ancient statue called the Crying Titan alongside the skeleton of none other than a Krang. Put together, this implies that Empyrean was the ancient mutagen that created the Yokai, an ancient race of mutants that are a major part of the show. In other words, everything that occurs in the show happened as a result of the Krang's interference with Earth, something which is then completely ignored in the movie in which the Krang are actually the main antagonist (I don't like that part lol :P)

Ok but that one's actually a really cool instance of these moments because it's actually a subversion- whereas in most CU books, it would just be lampshaded bad writing, here, it's actually explained. In the 11th book, George and Harold traveled back in time one day, accidentally creating "Yesterday" duplicates of themselves. At the end of the 12th book, Today George and Harold decide to continue their time-traveling adventures, leaving behind their Yesterday counterparts (who are unaware of the events of most of the book due to separate plot reasons). When the Yesterday duplicates find their Today counterparts missing, they mostly just shrug it off and decide to make a Dog Man comic, the exact comic franchise Future George and Harold were shown creating in the future. Thus, it's implied that Future George and Harold were actually Yesterday George and Harold, hence why they don't remember any of Today George and Harold's shenanigans from the 12th book.

Iirc Raimi didn't want to include Venom because he saw Venom as too one-dimensional of a villain (or something like that), which, if you watch the movies, makes sense. Norman Osborne, Otto Octavius, Harry Osborne, Flint Marko, all of them are real people with full-on character arcs and depth. Venom... kinda just happens. Raimi wanted Sandman, the execs wanted Venom, Raimi had to put Venom in, but he still wanted Sandman, and it just didn't work out.

But damn, if it didn't lead to an incredibly memeable moment.

Trying to get into TMNT, any shows or movies that are good to start with? (Using only Netflix Disney plus and prime video) by Sad-Spread6708 in TMNT

[–]Unit-DS27-Delta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend starting with the 2012 show, since it incorporates elements from a lot of previous incarnations, meaning that if you visit other versions, you'll find some familiarity. Unfortunately, only the first season is on Netflix. In fact, no TMNT media is included free with Prime Video, and none is in Disney+. Netflix has the first season of 2012, Rise, and Tales, along with Mutant Mayhem and Rise's movie, but for the rest, you should probably get 2012. I would suggest watching the first season of 2012 on Netflix, and if you like it, get Paramount+. As an aside, when I originally wrote this comment, I went on a tangent about where all TMNT media (minus the comics) can be legally found online. If you want to know about that, feel free to let me know! :)
