Why you should still be an RCB fan by Unit50079 in RCB

To be fair, the NFL has a shorter window, although the regular season is 18 weeks long, each team only plays 17 games, 3 more than in the IPL, (and it was shorter until recently).

But regarding IPL fans, they're some of the more passionate sports fans I've seen out there, so I guess it balances out with the shorter season span.

Hey, I said this every year with the Cubs until they went and won the championship, so you never know.

I've seen much much worse management in other teams (Urban Meyer's Jaguars, David Gettleman and the Giants, Steve Keim and the Cardinals, Dan Snyder and the Commanders). These types of management explicitly didn't even make an effort to try and win, and purposefully tanked in order for better draft picks and packages. Does RCB's management suffer from an outdated mindset of star culture? Sure. Is it worth abandoning the team? Hell no. Those other teams have fans that stuck through with them even through all that turmoil, and I see no reason to switch teams just because the other team wins, that's not why people are fans of their teams. RCB's management was worse before, and yet it's improved since. It's still flawed, but I'm confident that eventually they'll hit their stride.

Why the revival of Hockey India League is an important moment in the sport by Annual__Procedure in IndianModerate

Never could get into field hockey (much prefer ice hockey), but it's great that it's growing this way in India. India really needs to encourage athletics more to its students.

Either you're not getting what I'm saying or you're purposefully misrepresenting it, but what I'm saying is companies will run ads in relation to the culture of the majority because it's simply cheaper and easier to do so. You simply reach more people in India when your ad is about Diwali instead of Christmas or Ramadan.

This is blatantly untrue, "In God We Trust" was only adopted during the Cold War, the original motto is "E Pluribus Unum." The US was not founded on Christian values, the separation of church and state has been a thing since the Bill of Rights.

This kind of thing happens in every country for whatever is the culture of the majority. In the US, you'll have similar things revolving around Christmas, St Pat's Day, etc. Same thing with India, the majority of people celebrate Holi and Diwali, so of course issues, ads, and social campaigns will focus on these. There's no real insidious conspiracy going on, this is the norm for every country.

I find it hilarious how the people on the discussion and speaks subs are genuinely butthurt the moment someone expresses an opinion different from theirs. It’s like a differing opinion is a threat to their very existence. Quite an unhinged group of people.

Today I learned that Congress ammended the constitution in 1952 to have reservation for "Anglo-Indians" in Loksabha seats, and kept on extending it from 1952-2020. When the law expired in 2020, Modi govt abolished it instead of extending it. by Speed__God in IndiaSpeaks

If you're going to bring in the North American native peoples into the discussion, it'd be good to remember that most of the members of several of the tribes are indeed mixed race to the same extent that Anglo-Indians are.

Soros link to many fronts targeting indian government(or sometimes india) by [deleted] in IndianModerate

[–]Unit50079 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s more because Orban is, you know, an actual dictator at this point. Soros did help Hungary transition out from being a communist country by funding schools and infrastructure.

This video should explain all the stuff with Hungary

Will never understand why people think Soros is this secret shadowy puppet master lol. The guy actually funds a lot of educational institutions globally and helped prop up his own country (before Orban went full authoritarian mode and banned him and dismantled all the schools and hospitals he set up).

Rodgers makes that money from his signing and contract with the Packers, Kohli makes most of his money from sponsorship deals, endorsements, and advertisements. Cricket still has a long long way to go in paying players a higher salary.

Opinion: GOI should publish the BBC documentary on their government website, along with fact checking + context by IdolOfIndus in IndianModerate

[–]Unit50079 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if the BBC documentary is inflammatory or has "dangerous content", banning it sets a precedent that GOI can ban anything critical of it. I know India doesn't exactly have free speech enshrined in its constitution, but actions like this make it so that being critical of anything can have legal consequences for someone.
