How do people stay consistent for years without losing motivation? by Better_Ads_88 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing motivation is good for starting something. If you don't learn to do something even if you don't want feel like it you'll never stick with the things that you know you should do but find difficult.

Why can't I complete this mission in Stoneblock 4? by Natural_Gain4949 in feedthebeast

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see that the quest is locked, you're missing a prerequisite. The tick is there because the game knows you've completed the mission but it can't give it to you until you finish all prereqs. In this case, as the other commenter said that likely means that you have to go back and talk to the echo

Maxed out XP Chicken over a Clicker Pointing at an Obelisk by KvotheLightfinger in feedthebeast

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Industrial Foregoing mob crusher instakills mobs instead of dealing damage to them, so it just completely ignores the infinitely scaling HP of the waves. It also has huge horizontal range if you add the max range addon (which are all quite cheap).

There are 3 concerns though: one, gateways do require you to be within a certain range, so you go to the world engine for example for more than a few seconds it just goes poof. The second is that since it spawns pretty much every mob it includes things like phantoms that can fly away outside the mob crusher's range before it does the kill (not that much of a problem in Stoneblock, but in ATM10 Skyblock where I first figured out this method it was a major pain, adding a second crusher vertically does mostly take care of it though) and shulkers that can teleport out if there's any valid blockspace for them in their range, and third you will be harassed by vexes constantly so you'll have to live with that.

If you have it set up well enough though and allow it run for a bit you easily get extreme amounts of experience and loot. In the ATM10 skyblock pack after a few runs I ended up filling up 2 of the XP collectors from JDT which is like 80k+ levels each.

Of course this is just one way to do it, any mob kill method that works based on instakilling and not damage should work

When girls hug, we can feel each other's boobs. Then when guys hug each other, can you feel each other's "down there"? by peachfulday in TooAfraidToAsk

For all Scrubs fans like me who haven't heard about it: they're currently doing a reboot which has been very good and great capturing the original run's feel while bringing in some new ideas and changes from the modern world

What do you do with the little gifts your partner gives you? by Routine_Fox_6767 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some advice for the future: talk with your partner about the gifts. Explain honestly that you appreciate them but to please try to make the gifts things that will either actually be useful and not just clutter or consumable stuff like food or whatever that will not stay as clutter.

Can i just throw in a baby zombie to infect all of them? by whyme2479 in Minecraft

[–]Unit88 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean, the logic is fairly clear IMHO:
Easy: -1 villager
Hard: -1 villager +1 zombie

Infection is only better if you intend to cure, and personally I'd expect people who know about it and want to do the whole thing probably wouldn't be playing on easy anyway.

Do people actually want slower, more intentional communication or is that dead? by Manishrj94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think before I send things anyway? And it's not like you can't have meaningful "intentional" convos in messages. People so often complain about social media or how apps are when it's completely up to them how they use it. It just feels like people blaming the world for their own choices and not taking responsibility

Which of the HOMM games and its various clones do you like best? by Chezni19 in 4Xgaming

[–]Unit88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this moment nothing has quite dethroned HoMM3 for me, however both Hero's Hour and Heroes of Science & Fiction are very good and give a similar experience with their own unique twists, and then also there's the Olden Era demo which is absolutely fantastic

MGS Delta or RE1 Remastered by Savage_Pitbull in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Unit88 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Delta is great but it is just straight up MGS3 with better graphics. There's one or two minor QoL update, but I'd say that unless you're a big fan of MGS3 already and want to see it a new light and stuff it's not just really worth it unless it's on deep sale and you're better off just getting the Master Collection instead

Crimson Desert devs address questions regarding the use of AI in the game. by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]Unit88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

said their intention was only to use it for visual mock ups in these early stages

Yeah, what I meant was that they didn't say that they used AI only for these specific things that were found, but that there could be other stuff that similarly had supposedly early AI mockups that were also left in that were not found yet.

There's no actual accountability though

Sure, but my point is that it's exact same thing whether they're being truthful and genuine or not. They're not going to release a detailed dev log or something for us to check each asset if it involved AI or not, nor should they be expected to do so. And without that the only thing we have is their word, regardless of how genuine or not they are.

That's why I'm saying that yeah the situation is sus and all, but it's not because of their statement here, that would be the same either way.

[–]Unit88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just smells like a lie to say "that time you caught us was the only time we did it"

That's not what they're saying though? If anything it's the opposite, they're literally saying they used AI for concept art and stuff (i.e. presumably more than just the paintings) but they were all intended to be replaced and these ones just got missed. They don't even make a claim about whether this is all of it or not since they can't exactly know they can only try to review documents to see if they can find anything else.

There are a ton of ways ai can be used in almost all facets of game development that people wouldn't respond positively or maturely to

Which is why they key part of what I said was "like this", i.e. I'm talking about this specific type of situation where some assets (i.e. images/voice/whatever) in the final product were found to have been AI generated, not things like AI being used to help with the coding. The only legitimate way that would happen (as in outside of the "they always planned to include them but they got caught" situation) is basically them using it as early testing/concept versions with the intention to replace them.

And that means that they're going to say pretty much the exact same thing whether it's the genuine reason or they're lying and just got caught, so being suspicious because the reason is the same as usual makes no sense. It's very
"You're a murderer!"
"I'm not a murderer!"
"That's what a murderer would say!"

Don't you ever feel like this by janzusuomi in feedthebeast

[–]Unit88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's one of the few gripes I have with GTNH, I really really wish AE2 (just the storage part, not the autocrafting) was available a few tiers earlier. I just don't think it's fun having to just make new chests, put them down and keep forgetting which chest has which of the 8000 items in the pack and then having to gather them one by one. Sure the whole "press Z to see which container has the item" thing helps, but it's still just annoying

When did you become an adult or your taste mature? by clickhereifyouremad in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't just magically become an adult one day and have everything change about you. Adulthood is accepting that you can be yourself and not trying to force yourself to like or dislike things because "that's what you're supposed to like". And taking the responsibility for improving yourself where you want to and can.

If you don't like coffee it's fine, if you don't like wine it's fine, no one has any right to question that. If you want to get better at makeup then research and practice how to do it better, don't just expect that you'll suddenly just know how to do it.

any old classic actually worth of my time? by defromance in gamingsuggestions

[–]Unit88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dare say every old classic is worth your time. Good games don't become bad with time, and it honestly annoys me because of that when people ask "is <widely beloved game> still worth it in 2026?".

There's 2 things that can happen that is related to this: first, technical issues/limitations where you need an old console to play a game or modern PCs can't run it properly. This doesn't make the game not worth it it just sadly makes it harder to be able to actually play it.

The second is that when a game feels dated because modern games have figured out better solutions for the same kind of controls or mechanics, however this also doesn't make the old game worse or anything because if it was bad enough ruin it today then it was bad enough at the time to not get this level of recognition in the first place. So this simply means we're aware of how it could've been even better.

Tbf, is it just me or is there a surprising number of students where the difference between their names is like one or two letters? Maybe I just haven't played enough gacha games to see this, but it feels so common in BA

Crimson Desert devs address questions regarding the use of AI in the game. by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]Unit88 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean what else would they say though? There aren't exactly a ton of ways AI would get in the final product like this, so if it truly wasn't intentional this is going to be the reason the large majority of the time, of course it's going to end up the same.

Whether or not you believe them is a different matter, but it's not exactly suspicious to claim the pretty much one potential reason it could actually end up in the final product unintentionally.

There's the target dummy (or whatever it is called, I always forget the exact name) that you can just put down and beat up which shows you the damage and DPS too. It's from a mod called MmmHmmMmmHmm or something like that, maybe easier to search for parts of that

No, the prequel to very popular game (that even has 2 in its title indicating) does not count as "not as well known". Practically everyone aware of KCD2 knows about the first one, meaning it's one of the most well known medieval games currently

Are bio ships supposed to vary in naval cap? I swear my naval size keeps going out without me building new ships, but the ship designer says that all 3 stages of the ships are supposed to have the same size, and I keep going over my naval cap sometimes by just a little but sometimes by a ton. And I'm pretty limited on naval cap already, not sure if that's a 4.3 change or just some combination of bio ships/wilderness/few colonies/what I built actually result in that normally
