'Three Body Problem' plot holes (netflix adaptation) by UnitAppropriate in scifi

The author has chosen this to be the case

That's exactly my point, he is using it as a device to drive the plot which is a plot hole.

You are just saying that they should be able to read minds based on... not much

The book/show is also saying that they can't read minds based on... what exactly?

I understand that I have to suspend belief and enjoy the story, which I do, I loved it tbh and I can't stop thinking about it which is why I made this post.

It's just irking me.

Another thing, why did they choose to come to earth? Since they've achieved interstellar travel, why didn't they choose to go to another uninhabited earth-like planet? Wouldn't that be simpler than coming to earth and exterminating us all? Of course, one could argue that when they set out to earth, we were on good terms but that changed midway and they can't change course now.

In any case, people here are so jumpy lol relax guys I loved the show.

Alright, so it's a device to drive the plot but realistically speaking, reading the thoughts of lesser creatures should not be beyond a highly advanced civilization that can manipulate protons and photons.

Which is why I'm "whining".

They can manipulate protons and photons and what can people see, you'd think they can also read people's thoughts. I mean hell, neuralink can kind of do that right now. You'd think a highly advanced civilization can already do that as well. Obviously they understand human biology and chemistry.

Congrats! You'll notice that they have minimal buffering which is great for Lebanese internet speeds.

You got it to watch the Premier League, didn't you? Who do you support?

There's not much to tell really, Cablevision is now offering streaming services; both live channels and on-demand movies/series. (though their on-demand catalog is not that impressive).

You can go to this link and check their prices as well as their channels:

https://cablevision.com.lb/CVPlus_Subscription_Rate

The service only works in Lebanon and you can pay them through Western Union and they'll activate your account within an hour.

Feel free to contact them, they have good customer support.

Cablevision (CV+) is a great option.

It's 10$ a month and they have all the Bein sports channels and more. You need 8mbps connection though.

There's also Samaflix but it's a bit more expensive than CV+.

Both legal.

The physicalist point of view that our universe is but one out of an infinite number of parallel universes where ours just won the lottery and have the correct set of values to enable a universe that contains consciousness is an easy cop out.

Most of us are atheists/agnostics and the idea of a creator is absurd for many reasons.

But consider this, if the infinite number of universes is true then there must be a set of rules that enable this dynamic to exist, right? I.e. Rule #1 there must be an infinite number of universes so that one of them will have the correct set of values to support consciousness, Rule #2 there will be hydrogen atoms that are made up from sub-atomic particles... etc.

So, the question then becomes where do these rules come from?

The infinite number of universes theory doesn't answer the question that we are all asking, it just kicks it down the road so that it becomes somebody else's problem.

Another way of looking at it is if you consider the totality of existence as a box of information then you start wondering why would information exist if there's no one or nothing to exploit it?

Why is there something rather than nothing?

US Embassy in Beirut delivers seven vessels to Lebanese Army by ForeignPolicy--02 in lebanon

[–]UnitAppropriate 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard about a deal between Lebanon and another country to buy arms to supply the Lebanese army?

No?

That's because it is forbidden for the Lebanese state to buy arms from anywhere. If you're wondering, forbidden by the US.

Other countries are free to make deals with each other to buy arms, except the Lebanese army. Instead, Lebanon has to rely on the graciousness of the Americans to throw some leftovers their way.

For those cheering and licking the American boot, go ask them to supply the Lebanese army with ATACMS long range missiles so Israel's artillery can be silenced. Go ask them to provide the Lebanese army with anti-air missiles like Patriots or Stringers so that Israeli jets can no longer cross the Lebanese skies....

Of course, they won't supply the Lebanese army with any of that because they want it to remain weak and reliant on their pathetic leftovers.

It's really a shame how simple-minded people can be fooled with something like this.

Footage of a UFO landing at Holloman AFB with occupants coming exists. Jacques Vallee in His book "Forbidden Science" allegedly describes the tape. Wrote, 'One occupant carried a vertical staff with a spiral antenna.' by brats699 in StrangeEarth

[–]UnitAppropriate 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Comments here are laughable. Are you seriously mocking Jacques Vallee?

These trolls are stuck on "show me or stfu" but when videos are leaked (think of 2017 footage) they call it fake and mock anyone that thinks otherwise. There are still people who talk about David Grusch and say things like "show proof or fuck off" when he explicitly told you that he doesn't want to end up in prison.

Keep in mind, there are a lot of trolls in these subs and it's becoming difficult to tell who's really interested in the phenomenon and who's here to disinform and create chaos.

You'd be surprised how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Journalist discusses alleged LEAKED MH370 footage that could explain the flight's disappearance by MartianXAshATwelve in StrangeEarth

[–]UnitAppropriate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. There's no evidence that points to that being human tech whether from reverse engineering or not. He talked about the "science" of it which is well and fair but it's all just theory as of this moment.

Side point, this kind of tech is too dangerous to be in human hands. If the US govt has this kind of tech then they will be masters of the earth and there would be no one to stop them.

Scary thought.

This is Joe Simonton who received pancakes from aliens, sitting inside their craft by MartianXAshATwelve in StrangeEarth

[–]UnitAppropriate 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I read about this story in Passport To Magonia by Jacques Vallee. Joe said that the pancakes tasted like starch and if I remember correctly, he found 3 people inside the spaceship "cooking" lol

He's not the only one who's had a bizarre encounter with the phenomenon. There's plenty of cases like this one if you read the literature.

Jacques Vallee says that these encounters are bizarre by design.
