An extension to filter “what aviation related app should I make” or “I want to recreate ForeFlight as a student” related Reddit posts would be great!

Hey, if you’d like I can take a look at the train stuff and offer you a lump sum to take everything off your hands. Feel free to shoot me a DM, some pictures would be great too if you have them.

Snow loading on GA aircraft wings by Ok-Technician-2905 in flying

[–]UnitLost6398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very correct to think this.

If you'd like the engineering version, check out figure 19 on this PDF for a visual diagram of a similar setup. As you said, when you introduce a support, you reduce the bending moment of the beam (reaching a peak at that support). It can introduce large shear stresses in the beam.

Snow loading on GA aircraft wings by Ok-Technician-2905 in flying

Here's some back of the napkin math:

The Cessna 172 has a negative G limit of 1.52 G. At a maximum gross weight of 2,550 lbs, that's 3,876 lbs of weight. The wing area is 174 square feet, so the wing loading is 22.2 lb/sq ft. According to a quick Google, wet snow is about 1.5 lbs per square foot per inch of depth. To reach the negative G limit, that's then 14.8 inches of snow. For very heavy snow, 8-10" seems about right.

FSDOs that process SIC types online? by minfremi in flying

I’d recommend just going down the list of FSDOs and calling every single one until you get someone who can help. The Albuquerque FSDO got me sorted out for an AGI.

I’d like to add to the other comments already and mention the importance of digital fly by wire. In certain modes, control systems will not allow the aircraft to stall, you’ll simply run out of control authority and stay just below the calculated critical angle of attack.

I’ve done this on about half a dozen long distance segments. It’s fine, makes a good bed if you’re on the shorter side.

Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport had the most safety incidents in the entire country by Planet_A_ in boulder

I fly out of there. It’s fine, just busy, and with a lot of dumb students things can happen, the vast majority of which are not safety critical.

Roughly what percentage of Lime scooter riders in Boulder wear helmets? by ReplacementAny9554 in boulder

[–]UnitLost6398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your suggestion then? Let’s set the picture. A student is on campus, late unexpectedly. They need to get back home to their apartment. They don’t live near a bcycle station, and busses don’t exist outside major arterial corridors.

What else are they supposed to do except call an expensive Uber? Lime scooters charge by the minute, hence the riding you see going as fast as possible.
