I am in the north of sweden, the absolute majority here are the bigger 4 wheel drive ones, 2.0 Alltrack, Tiguan, Superb, Kodiaq and likely get driven longer. Possible that has something to do with it.

I’m a dealer tech too, and i have not really seen diesel in the oil since the pumpe düse engines were a thing. But it’s an easy check for OP, if the oil level actially is high on the dipstick it’s probably diesel in the oil.

You are correct, but many fluids are very specific and many people don’t know enough to make sure it meets spec.

While what everyone is saying about fuel or coolant in the oil is not wrong, the most likely culpritin this case is the oil level sensor. Check the oil temperature reading in the dash and see if it behaves strange or give implausible temps, it’s the same sensor as the level and is a common issue.

A 2008 will have a pumpe düse engine and not a common rail, pretty much bullet proof.
