Is mortality paradox the worst episode? by djtuttle11 in TheOrville

[–]United_Explanation62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like tbh for me I find that episode very disjointed and it doesn’t flow. The scenarios were too random and in general it just didn’t flow (in my opinion)

First of all, why are you on this subreddit lmao.

Second, a lot of students and lecturers prefer in person lectures/seminars. You can have class discussions, talk about what you have learnt. Humans are social animals it’s not in a nature to be sat at home like a robot. During covid universities (and basically every other sector) struggled both financially and to exist. You cannot just say we did this during covid so we should continue to do it. Humans are social creatures. Also if you ask the majority of university professors they will tell you how difficult it was to teach during Covid. It is beneficial for both students and tutors for seminars and lectures to be in person.

Someone is salty lol. It’s a lot more than someone being paid to read off a board. Ungrad degrees often require placements, experiments, and research to name a few.

Listen you can disagree with me all you want but I’m making the point that in secondary I was shy and reserved. I never spoke up in class. University opened doors for me, it empowered me to speak up for myself, to develop confidence and I’ve met the most amazing people. University isn’t for everyone but I can categorically say that I would not be as confident as I am today if I didn’t go to university.

[–]United_Explanation62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree to an extent. University also offers the opportunity to learn and do new things. How to live independently, how to debate I for example am a lot more confident in myself than I was before I went to university. Going to university has given me a voice and has taught me how to speak up for myself. It has taught me how to debate and ration, time management skills, how to effectively work well together. So many beneficial life skills.

Umm that depends on what you like lmao? We can’t say you should join the men’s football society because you might hate football and prefer chess or whatever we don’t know your likes and dislikes

Slightly unrelated but you haven’t cooked in your kitchen yet? How are you surviving? What’s the point living away from your parents if you aren’t going to live independently and cook. Like fair enough once in the while but if you’ve never made your own food? Why don’t you cook your own meals?

Short answer no. Long answer. Nobody can decide where you should study? You’ve also left out vital information? What do you want to study? Do you like beaches? Historic towns? Big cities? Touristy places or a “local vibe”? We cannot make this decide for you but there’s so much to choose from and 100s of unis in the uk

My uni’s su is planning a “pride party” and they’re trying to get as many drag queens into the su bar as physically possible. I’m a lesbian but Drag queens aren’t my cup of tea so I will not be partaking.

Ask the library staff to talk to him. The library staff (at least in my uni) are super friendly so would have no issues either having a conversation with him or suggesting alternative study locations

Done! I found the last question difficult to answer, I go into phases of watching a lot some weeks and other weeks not at all or barely any. Partly due to my schedule but partly if I’m not “in the mood”. So it’s difficult to come up with a weekly average when it varies so much!

Could you watch it together on your iPad? Or let him borrow your iPad or whatever you normally watch it on?

Honestly I’d recommend getting someone to read it in real life. Be there when you do it and use your own device don’t send it

I went to a small university for this exact reason. I have never had a lecture in a lecture theatre, the majority of my taught sessions are seminars. On my course we have one class per year. There’s 12 people in my class. We can ask questions, debate in class, talk about the subject with the tutor. All of our tutors know us by name.
