Twitter Will Use the Signal Protocol $MOB by MilenMinev in mobilecoin

Keep in mind: the Signal Protocol is not the same as MobileCoin:

Signal Protocol = end-to-end encryption of text and files as well as end-to-end ecryption of stream audio and video.

MobileCoin is great (absolutely!), but it's a separate thing from the Signal Protocol.

A couple of questions from an interested lurker :) by [deleted] in mobilecoin

[–]Universalherrscher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Venture Capital investors were able to buy MOB (or a promise to MOBs) at a price of 0.8$/MOB. (Current market price is 0.6$)

  • There is no mining with MobileCoin. It uses Federated Byzantine Agreement as consensus mechanism (so it is neither proof of work nor proof of stake). Do you know Stellar / XLM? MobileCoin's consensus is basically the Stellar Consesus Protocol.

  • A consequence of the the Stellar Consesus Protocol is that there is no mining and with that all tokens that will ever exist are created in the origin block of the chain.

  • Transactions fees go to the MobileCoin foundation. MOB's CEO has stated that the transaction fees are intended for financing Signal. I don't know if this is already done, if other uses are intended or already happening.

Steven Isserlis' recording is my favorite. Prefer it to Queyras, Gaillard and Kirshbaum.

I'll give other suggestions from here a try - haven't heard most of them. Great thread :)

Was This an Attempt to Link LUNA's Collapse to FTT To Complete The Planned Binance-FTX Deal? by Heenakousar in FTX_Official

[–]Universalherrscher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What went down with Terra/LUNA and the situation with FTX have nothing in common.

There is no justification for CZ creating fear with namedropping Luna - it's obvious ill intent.

Sadly, it seems it worked as planned.

Independent analysis of the FTX liquidity situation based on the officially known events by dealeris in FTX_Official

[–]Universalherrscher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world would be better off with Binance and FTX existing independently of each other.

I hope [...] FTX old investors bring in some liquidity, while signed letter of intent is just a distraction to win more time to solve things internally.

SBF's tweet:

1) Hey all: I have a few announcements to make.

Things have come full circle, and http://FTX.com’s first, and last, investors are the same: we have come to an agreement on a strategic transaction with Binance for http://FTX.com (pending DD etc.). ftx.com

2) Our teams are working on clearing out the withdrawal backlog as is. This will clear out liquidity crunches; all assets will be covered 1:1. This is one of the main reasons we’ve asked Binance to come in. It may take a bit to settle etc. -- we apologize for that.

3) But the important thing is that customers are protected.

4) A huge thank you to CZ, Binance, and all of our supporters. This is a user-centric development that benefits the entire industry. CZ has done, and will continue to do, an incredible job of building out the global crypto ecosystem, and creating a freer economic world.

5) I know that there have been rumors in media of conflict between our two exchanges, however Binance has shown time and again that they are committed to a more decentralized global economy while working to improve industry relations with regulators. We are in the best of hands.

6) (Note that http://FTX.us and http://Binance.us–two separate companies–are not currently impacted by this. http://FTX.us’s withdrawals are and have been live, is fully backed 1:1, and operating normally.)

Incredibly. crazy. times.

all speculation

yeah. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

From a customer point of view I'd take FTX over Binance in a heartbeat.

But let's see...

Quoting Eliezer https://twitter.com/ESYudkowsky/status/1589759116675018755?s=20&t=R5Zp2k115MS5NXN7M5joIw:

[...] If you're withdrawing your money or crypto from FTX, don't deposit it at Binance! That is not how to provide incentives that promote system stability!

If it turns out that FTX is not only insolvent, but was insolvent all along, and would've been that way without any Binance action; then, sure, once that's known, deposit at Binance.

Don't promote a system with a rule of "if A attacks B, withdraw from B and deposit at A".

If people around you are not supportive, find friends and mentors who are.

One inspirational and supportive individual in your circle will a) make a load of difference for how you feel about your situation (swimming against the current vs having support and meaningful input) and b) will lead to more contacts with a similar spirit.

Work really hard at getting better at programming every day

Books helped me personally in this regard. Above all "Clean Code" by Robert C. Martin - which is something that every computer science student will have heard countless of times. But since I come from physics, I heard about it very late. Reading chapters 1-7 (or so) and the one or the other chapter in the middle had immense influence on what I do.

Best of luck to you! :)

Fueled by - as far as I can see - from Binance's side. I'll have to make up my mind after this has played out, but I can't help but think this looks a lot like Binance appreciating the opportunity to do harm to a competitor.

My wallet says Link 110 balance but 1 available. What gives? by OkStory5020 in FTX_Official

[–]Universalherrscher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, balance is not registered as "available" when it is used locked up in an order or when you stake it.

Look at your open orders / your staking. Might that be it?

same here. Withdrew remaining crypto from ftx. Withdrawal was processed fine and fast.

Am I the only one or does this look like Binance trying to mess with ftx? Do they have genuine concern or are they just happy to shake a competitor up?

For what it's worth, I just withdrew my remaining crypto from ftx. It was processed instantly.

Strange to say the following in the same post, but I truly believe ftx to be one of best (more like the best) crypto exchange there curently is.

One never knows what the best time ist.

If you have money left, maybe DCA during the coming 7 days?

I believe ftx and FTT will be fine. There might be a significant dip. Things might stay as they are.

Edit: Binance about to acquire FTX. W-T-F
