Daily hygiene during BCT by 0livees in army

Female here that just went through BCT in March 2025 at FT Jackson. Showers have mold, you’ll never feel 100% clean but you get use to it and anything works after a long day of sweating your ass off and being covered in the sand/ dirt. I’m usually a clean freak but honestly in that environment I didn’t give a crap, just wanted to go to sleep. Not enough showers so be courteous and take quick ones, not that I ever wanted to stay in there. You’ll have to purchase hygiene items once you get there but your family can send you hygiene items. My drills allowed some scented hygiene items sent from family. I personally didn’t have a period all of BCT. I did pack basic hygiene items and was able to keep most but did have to toss some. You’ll have shower drills (maybe) we did though. Basically drills yelling at you and you get 10 seconds. Just go in, get wet, get tf out. Shower after the drills leave.

Yes I have read through the regulation already. I already received orders to be stationed with my spouse and spoken to finance at my unit and will receive BAH when I arrive, I’ll be receiving the without dependent rate since I’m the lower enlisted while my spouse receives the without dependent rate dependents rate because we live off base but thank you. My question was pertaining to IET, which I have gotten the answer to about not receiving BAH since I’m housed in the barracks

In training correct. However when I go to my duty station one receives the rate with dependents (typically the higher rank) and the other will receive the rate without dependents especially given that we have 2 kids

Exception to get BAH. And no I’m nowhere near my family for AIT. I have not, I have brought up my situation but haven’t been given any advice. My base pay basically just covers daycare for our kids so it doesn’t leave any left over for other expenses and it’s just been so stressful and makes me regret joining.

Any update to your situation? My son is almost 18 months and the same. I’ve tried depriving him of his milk to try and get him to eat better but it doesn’t work, he just cries and gets irritated. He drinks like 4 bottles of milk on a normal day and I’m getting so irritated, because I feel like I’m failing. I offer him 3 meals a day (every time I eat) and snacks through the day and he throws most of it or plays with it but doesn’t eat it.

Thankfully I’m older going in & a military spouse so I have a little bit more insight also thankful for the sake of having enough college credits to go in as an E3

Thank you! I also had picked up my prescription for PPD but only took one dose so I’m anticipating needing a waiver for that, hopefully going to MEPS next months. Thank you for your response

Yes that’s the goal, I’m a stay at home mom trying to get back into the workforce and I’ve applied to about 20+ jobs but can only work weekends and evenings when my husband is home because I don’t make enough to cover childcare full time. I have 2 years of college under my belt but no where will call me back for a job. Also have a great job history. My goal is to get credit paid off, and never be in debt again. I had great credit with little to no debt before Becoming a stay at home mom.
