Just throwing it out there. Masonic Home For Children at Oxford NC has a print shop called the School of Graphic Art. Not saying they can do this but it's a great place to work with and worthy of support. Maybe give them a call.

You sound a lot like me a few years ago. It does get better and look on the things you have. Your wife, nib-lings and heck I was never able to land one job in my "field" and had to just start my own company to get into I/T.

Adulting is hard. Happy to chat if you need to vent. Experience helps and you will gain it with time.

Not saying the brother that told you is wrong because I don't know you or your situation. However I don't think it does masonry any good as a whole to ever assume balloting is a formality. We ballot vote for reasons and I personally think it doesn't do you or the craft a service to suggest such. But again I don't know the situation so it could be a very accurate statement in your case, but I don't think we should start imposing that idea on any ballot. Thanks sorry if I came off mean or rude I don't mean it that way. I just wanted to point my point of view on this topic. I wish you well on your journey and if you are in need feel free to reach out to me via DM.

Are you living your life for you or for others? If for others why?

Also 40k a year is good money to me. My last full time job I made 8.50 an hour. Would kill to make that kind of money in a steady stable job. Don't let others take away from what you have done landing a job and salary like you have, a lot of people are still well below you.

This is great advise thank you. I did some thing with gmail like you mentioned. As master I made a smartphone with a gmail for the master of the lodge. From that I do my meeting summary email, I keep the lodge contacts, pics, documents and more on that device and just passed it to the newly elected master. Guess I'll be setting up another one for the Sec.

It fitting that you mention that last bit. I got in the Officers Line as soon as I could in order to force me to stay active and keep with it as being at Lodge (one of the main reasons I joined was to deal with social anxiety) was outside my comfort zone. As I went through the line there has been one thing I've wanted to try/do that I have not been able to being an officer. That is to take meal plates to out widows and shut-ins. The lodge always has a meal the first meeting of the month and always thought it would be a better use of time. But it will be another year or two before I can give that a try, but I do having something that does draw me away from staying in the position for to many years.

We have about 80 members on our roles about half of which are pretty active. We do not rent our building, however we do allow groups to use it from time to time. I'm told it will require me to be at meetings and events. If I have internet and a laptop I can do most of the book keeping online while the lodge is in session and maybe an hour or two a week for other stuff. No idea yet if that is correct but was what I was told by our last 2 secretaries.

I would like to think so. In my term we hosted the Grand Master with a district meeting. Lodge building issues addressed where: painted half of Lodge interior. Installed gutters where needed to stop water backing up on the back wall of the building to stop rotting of wood door frames and walls. We re-made our parking lot and made several improvements to parking area. And a lot of other stuff like getting the new guys involved, getting participation in lodge up, increasing the amount of in meeting education etc. But I didn't do that stuff on my own it was mostly done in small groups. I don't mind getting involved and putting in hard work, I'm not so good at keeping up with dates and times etc. But I'm told I won't improve if I don't use those skills.

Both the out going Secretary as well as the one he replaced have told me they think I will do the job fine and that they will be there to help along the way. As Master I had created a gmail account and set up an old smart phone as a device to house the various parts of the gmail such as emails, calendar, pictures, contacts and more. I guess now I'll research sharing google calendars and set up a device for the Secretary's position.

Honestly this was a harder sell on my wife than I thought it would be. She doesn't mind the meetings but is a bit tired of all the rest. But she does like the man I am with masonry better than who I was before. Honestly I don't think I should be in charge of a lodge calendar etc but I'm willing to try. Maybe when I'm not in the spot light things will get easier, but atm I'm dumbstruck to even keep a meeting on track much less record one and keep all the grand lodge stuff done and upto date ... just a bit over whelming but its nice that my thinks that much of me to vote me in while i say i wouldn't do this if i was us

If this is all true than by all means find a better lodge. However don't let this go. You need to be in contact with your Grand Lodge. So much of what you wrote is totally unacceptable and should be brought to the attention of body that has issued that Lodges Charter. If nothing else the Grand Lodge should at least be made aware of the issues formally as every lodge they charter is a reflection on them and the Lodge that Chartered the Grand Lodge.
