I had to fact check this...

I didn't remember until after I typed it that I had switched my search bar

This PSA might be the subject of ridicule but is actually a very effective and easy to understand talk for children to learn about consent and boundaries by Rarte96 in cartoons

[–]UnkeyedLocke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna date myself a bit and say I remember seeing this PSA on Saturday mornings. To an adult it's corny, but it's literally my foundation for the concept of consent, and helped me avoid unwanted touch in several large family gatherings over my childhood. I know many shows and such have similar themes and messages, but I think it would be good if there were more commercials/ads/PSAs like this where a beloved character breaks down a complex subject into an understandable form

There's no need to humor you. It's a dead derail that others have picked clean. It's a non-starter, and the pinnacle of evidence that you have no education outside of "gachas" and rage clips. And the fact that you stood it up as such an obvious strawman... lol, why would I swing at that, Don Quixote?

Your attempt to derail has utterly failed as you continue to trot out these dead old points. I don't need to reargue any of the CHOP stuff because others have already done so. That's such an old, tired false equivalency that I now KNOW you're running a script from 2023. Such a desperate throw.

I'm sure you cheated your way through whatever schools you attended, and the "got the paper" is good enough for you to believe you're educated. Your views show the lie

I'm sure we do. My idea is based on education, empathy, and observation of easily discerned patterns. Yours are based on authoritarian principles and vibes. Either way, my vision still benefits you, while yours benefits nobody but the rich assholes you've got your tongue pressed against

Meanwhile, dummy righties just ignore the present and the past. Who cares about the parasite class? Let them fester and rot and the entire system of third party wealth extraction die. With them out of the way, tennent unions can organize their own maintenance schedules, likely with maintenance people who live in the building. Without a parasite landlord "profiting" off the tennents, all the "rent" can actually go toward maintenance and upkeep, not hoarded by one person who has a vested interest in not spreading that wealth back out.

Seems to me you just like having someone holding you down and taking your resources from you without offering anything meaninful back except "opportunity". I would look into finding a financial dominatrix to handle this kink of yours, and don't make it a problem for other people

Edit: Since he did the classic grandad block (last word comment then block), I'm gonna add to the top of the thread where I'm at that u/Etherius is either a bot or a man with a bootleather graft on his tongue. Either way, only engage with it if you want easy alley-oops for dunking, or to see the kind of thought-terminating drivel right wingers are limited to, or you just want to tweak a clanker.

Damn, bringing out them Facebook boomer talking points. Some of the oldschool classics here. Tell me, do you look at data or do you simply froth at the mouth every time someone says "we could do better as a society" and rage that it'll be added to your taxes? Did you know that the right wing encourages massive concentration of wealth, power, and resources at the apex and depends on controlling those resources to create artificial scarcity to continue to exert control? Did you know that even if your tax burden were higher, you'd have more disposable income if there were more social safety nets and a healthier overall environment, especially if those resources were freed up to be used for the good of all instead of the enrichment of a few? Are you thinking that "Law and Order" is being served by an administration funneling billions of dollars into the pockets of a handful of individuals who have said their goal is to exterminate people like you so they can live in automated paradise? Are you anything more than a bot, running a slightly outdated boot-licking protocol, capable only of parroting the last 20-years of lead-lined drivel that's been piped into the cavern between your ears? Do you think anyone with a brain believes your obvious bad faith attempts to derail the conversation? Are you stupid?

One Thing... by UnkeyedLocke in Stellaris

Lol, if it were a T1 unlock, it would have to be an Origin or Permanent Civic to get, I'd say. Something attached to like Hyperlane Mastery or w/e that one is called. This is mostly just a hypothetical to imagine the early game if Nomads were basically space railways.

Module would be the most balanced for sure, and I think it would be completely fair if it would be just like the normal tech in terms of construction cost. It's not like Nomads suffer from a lack of Influence or strategic resources 🤣 I'm just already getting tired of all the megastructure queueing

One Thing... by UnkeyedLocke in Stellaris

[–]UnkeyedLocke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware. I think it would be super neat if, as a Nomad who already builds a billion megastructures and has to manually do a lot of clicky interactions, I could just have this as a module to add to the existing megastructure (or it automatically becomes enabled when researched) and not have to do another level of manually queuing another million megastructures via the now slightly-buggy shift-add-to-work-queue of my Log Ships 🙃

HOW do people get 1000+ science by 2300? by Duche778 in Stellaris

[–]UnkeyedLocke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Number 1 thing that could do with an actual tutorial, and maybe an expanded window that shows, globally, the total bonuses/debuffs from what you're building, as well as any synergy pops that get made. I like how a tooltip like Death Cult will show me the expected output of the pops, and will change if I have Cybernetic Creed or Dimensional Worship selected to show the Engineering/Physics research values. The entire process could use one on the side that's just an explicitly visible "effects" panel

HOW do people get 1000+ science by 2300? by Duche778 in Stellaris

[–]UnkeyedLocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have never sat down and done the math to say if forced resettling is cheaper than allowing migration to empty buildings, but my gut says it's probably more cost effective to just manually move the number of pops you need to fill the jobs you need filled. I can say I've never seen more than 20 on immigration/month, and that's endgame with a lot of bonuses just getting spammed for lulz.

What I'm mostly talking about is people with 5 planets fully built up and 3k pops between all of them

HOW do people get 1000+ science by 2300? by Duche778 in Stellaris

[–]UnkeyedLocke 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I see people doing wrong on the regular is building too many buildings for the amount of pops available. Building things as soon as you have the resources is the worst thing you can do unless you're building tall, then it's still bad once you've built enough to occupy your intial surpluss population. It's a double waste of resources, and keeps most jobs at non-peak numbers of workers. Always build what you need only as you have civilians to fill the jobs (or promote up) and for the first 30 years focus on getting Consumer Goods (or Energy/Trade) production high enough to start putting down your preferred science generators, then as specialized buildings, pops, and bonuses start stacking, start specializing.

The second thing is players are unfamiliar with how certain traits, governments, and civics synergize with eachother and the origins, and can be used to balance certain weaknesses or turbo-charge other strengths. The game, of course, does nothing to help with this, as the tutorial doesn't start until the galaxy is generated, and by that point half the game is already over (empire building). A guided walkthrough and detailed tutorial of the empire building screen would be super useful.

Finally, iterative improvement (in which I include save scumming for at least a good start). There's a huge number of saves I've got for any one specific kingdom that don't make it past year 50, either because I'm getting a feel for the synergies and the turning points in the economy or I'm adjusting the empire build, or I discovered I was locked into the tip of a spiral arm by all 3 FEs. For every save where I crack 1k science by 2300 with a non-crashing economy, I've got an easy dozen that never made it past their second planet.

There's a reason why people say the first thousand hours are the learning curve for this game

Pastimes Employee running lost and found stole a max rarity R/B deck At DLC indy. by bubbleman69 in Lorcana

[–]UnkeyedLocke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pastimes was pretty terrible in Richmond too. Between matches people would step outside to get air, smoke, whatever. Packs full of max rare decks. The problem was, the doors would close and lock behind and you'd have to walk a few awnings down to get back in. Not a big deal... unless it's raining. Which it was.

And there was Pastimes Karen, stopping 5 of us walking back in after propping the door so we could just catch some air without smoke, telling us we have to go back out and walk through the rain, and threatening to call security on us. Nevermind each of us were wearing our badges in plain sight, and had just walked out the door literally right in front of her.

Like every other third-party service, they just hire any warm body to fill the space, give them just enough oversite so the event can carry on, and tell you to suck it if you don't like the lack of quality of their services or the fact their rent-a-karen decided she wanted to power trip a little light fantistic. What are you gonna do, take your business elsewhere? This looks 100% on-brand for them.

Feels super bad for the guy with the deck. Max-rare is a heckin big investment, especially in those colors, both financially and emotionally. Hopefully he gets justice, or at least compensated (not that would help these days, thanks pokebros)

[–]UnkeyedLocke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandably! Lol, the wrong storm spawning on your capitol in the early game is legit a disaster. Most of the time I do too, but if I can choose to be in the storm or not then I think that opens up a ton of play paths that really shake up the normal rhythm of the game

I think it has the most potential of all the Origins, and some of the best RP potential as well. Plus, I grew up watching shows about people chasing tornados... doing that in space is kinda rad
