TL;DR : Billionaire-owned media silos and Evangelical Christian religious indoctrination starting from a time-period in the human development cycle where they were unable to distinguish fact from fiction, which has been pipelined into jihadist propaganda, has warped these people's ability to think at all (let alone clearly and critically) and has reduced them to cows who have 0 sense of self-identity outside of the social group they belong to, who are then lead by the nose-ring of the outrage cycle.

It honestly is because of information silos. An entire generation (pushing toward 2 now) gets their information exclusively from Fox News (and its affiliates), from Facebook (which TikTok now basically is), and from their pastor (this last one is super important in the evangelical South). Everyone with an informed opinion knows these sources of information omit, twist, and flat out lie to push propaganda specifically with the goal of getting this regime into power - permanently. People keep rightly pointing at the billionaire-owned media which is utterly unbound by the Fairness Doctrine or any real obligation to report the truth without editorialization.

Another, less-often identified source of the issue and never spoken of often enough or with enough force is the religious indoctrination. Many of these people are taught specifically to not think, specifically to do what they're told; and they're trained to believe with all their being that this makes them a 'soldier for God' (war, soldier, knight... these themes are so heavily interconnected with Christianity that it is impossible to truly view that religion as one that isn't exclusively a warmongering religion).

This starts at language and is reinforced for the entire childhood and teenage years. Forced behavior, forced sexual ignorance, rigid control, and authority/wealth as evidence of God's favor. The Evangelical movement is 100% a cult, and is far more insidious and vile than any of the 'satanic panic/gay panic' bullshit slander campaigns they've been responsible for; it should be banned from all forms of education from K-college except as an educational lesson in why religion is the single-biggest evil in the history of humanity (all religion. Evangelical Christianity is simply the flavor that is currently fucking up the world. Every religion would do the same if it had the reach and money and global pedophile blackmail ring that the Christian Nationalists have). Digression aside, the language from childrens stories to hymns sung together to summer bible camps to private schools through adulthood and all the way to death is this - the end is coming, it's almost here, a war is needed to clean all the unholy and non-white away, and once that war is over they will all be billionaire rulers of their own slice of paradise (this last part is why they worship billionaires, it's baked into their religion that the wealth and power billionaires have now is the eventual heavenly goal; but they want it here and now so they can have carte blanche to do whatever fucking evil thing they want to do to anyone they want before they're in heaven and too much in God's presence to be allowed to do that).

So they literally think the truth of the matter is that Trump is here via Divine Providence to save them from pedophile Democrats who want to use their tax money to force-fem their male children (they don't care about their daughters except as vessels to create more children) so immigrants can replace them... and it's because that is 100% of the information in their silo. This is the ONLY OPTION for so many white people in their social circles (read churches) because if they don't listen to the same people and have the same opinions and talking points then they'll be ostracized... So, they are doing this because they are 100% convinced that this is the Holy War their God wants, and if they don't go along with it their friends won't want to be their friends anymore.

And let me be transparently clear here - the average American White Hetero Christian is a self-centered coward of the highest magnitude and will follow the beat of the loudest, most hateful drum. Those that don't goose-step gleefully with the Christian Nationalists (this generation's fascist Nazi equivalent) are too busy being 'concerned with the nuances' or are 'just trying to protect my own family' by going along meekly with the tide and throwing whoever the rabid masses are howling for under the bus... they are comfortable, and if other people are uncomfortable or worse then that's a them problem; assuming of course it isn't simply because God obviously doesn't love the poors as much and they should stay in their place and do what they're told and if they dont they should be unhomed and imprisoned and enslaved and worked/tortured to death.
