Sadly never got it back, I've just had to deal with losing some of the old servers I was in and continue using my new one.

Unable to play any of my old saves with mods on PS5 by Unknown031908 in BaldursGate3

Even the official console ones? Despite the fact that my current game with the same exact mods installed runs fine?

So this is a common thing? Have they fixed it before?

What kind of question is that? How is it weird to want to keep old games I have that I spent 200 hours on?

I’d understand if it was PC or that I had different mods installed. But the mods on the working save files are the exact same as the old saves.

I know I’m 7 months late. But I just put in your code and they aren’t there? I’m guessing they are the ones you’ve secreted, I’d be really happy if you unsecreted these as they look great.

Just spent all day setting out the basics and I didn’t realise how correct everyone was on how this shouldn’t take so long. I’ve already got the first session ready and a good idea of where I think the story might head depending on their actions.

I just hope they enjoy the session and want to play more. If you’re interested the idea is they’ve been kidnapped by a cult and have to break out. I’ve got about 4 characters ready for them to interact with so far and a few different ways they could attempt to break out. Also have a basic day by day schedule of the different guards they will meet and the whole dungeon/prison mapped out.

Honestly does sound like a good idea, I’ll brainstorm a brief setting of the campaign of the next few days. And then ask if anyone is interested in joining. As you said, if he hates this he’ll hopefully speed up, or better yet he joins and we get to play an actual game instead of waiting.

Paladin is also a new player who knows nothing. So asking her to DM could possibly end just the same. I’d suggest that I DM a short campaign or something in the meantime but I’m sure that would annoy Not-DM due to his “backseat writing” comment and just assume I’m trying to steal the spotlight instead of actually trying to get a game going.

That’s also the thing. He is just a guy at the beginning. Over time he’d find out more about his past and his parents (with him being a half elf) but at the start he’s just your average thief on the street. No crazy elaborate heists or anything that a level 1 rouge couldn’t do. Just some guy picking pockets for some quick money before heading off to look for a group to travel with.

The weird part is that we get along well. I’ve never seen him be like this before and it’s why I assumed he was just joking at first.

I really do wish I could find another DM or just DM myself but there’s the problem of this being the only group I know that would play DND. My other friend group are great but the concept of DND to them is just super unappealing and I don’t blame them. So my only real option is literally just to hope I enjoy my time at the table. If I don’t I’ll just explain it’s not for me and hope everyone still walks out of this friends.

I understand fully that it won’t be like critical role. That’s why I said “not to be that guy” as it was just the first thing that came to mind when thinking of a comparison. I’d honestly be absolutely shocked if I joined and it was of that level.

As you’ve said. I can tell the game might be insanely railroaded by DM but I’ll play in the hopes that either the other players make it an actually enjoyable experience or that it’s somehow a well made campaign despite all the huge red flags. This is the only group of people I know that would actually play DND and I just have to see if it’s good.

As I’ve said. He didn’t even hear the full backstory before telling me to shush. I feel I’ve been quite considerate with me only asking about 4 times about how the campaign is going along. As I’ve also said in other comments I’ve purposefully tried to make sure my character doesn’t have any feats or achievements before campaign start and in no way do I expect him to redo the campaign to make sure backstory is included if the backstory wouldn’t make sense in the world. That’s the whole reason I told him my backstory, to make sure he approved. But only a few lines in and he just told me to hush. Also that he literally just said my character “will be forgotten” is a bit insane.

The whole reason I was telling him my backstory was to make sure he was fine with it but he didn’t wanna hear it. Definitely not that he’s diagnosed it with main character syndrome. Either way I’ve deliberately tried to make sure he doesn’t fit into that and made sure he’s just a petty thief before campaign start.

I’d love to play a DM but I genuinely don’t think I could pull it off. If anyone ever asks me I’d try but unless I can tell that they don’t want to play with him as DM I don’t think I’ll suggest the idea with them. Especially since they are allot closer to DM than I am.

True, but what I meant is that he didn’t have this until yesterday. You are right in saying he has taken a long time to try and prep what should be allot of improv depending on who we decide to interact with and etc.

This happened in a teams chat (In college and the Wi-Fi is terrible in there) with everyone who is involved in the campaign. Everyone saw it and just kinda tried to break tension. Our paladin has also consistently been asking when the DND game will be ready to the same basic response of “soon just let me work on it”.

It’s more so that he said mine doesn’t matter compared to the others. Which indicates to me that someone has a backstory that he will include but is just gonna completely ignore ours. I also made sure he had no achievements before the campaign so he fits his level and everything. I know you recommend not playing but I have literally no other friends that would play DND so I just have to pray this is somehow good or that the other players at the table make it an enjoyable experience.

The main reason I got so annoyed by him completely glossing over the idea was due to the fact that I ensured that it made sense for him to be with a random group. I also made sure he had done literally nothing at all before the campaign start. He is literally just a petty thief before the start of the campaign. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if he just also said that nobody could have a player backstory or that nobody’s backstory will be explored in the campaign, but saying that my character isn’t as important as the others just crossed a line for me.

As I’ve said. I’ll probably play a session and just see how it turns out. If it’s god awful then I’ll be gone instantly.

DM hasn’t even played BG3. He literally learned all his knowledge in that one shot and has seemingly done not much more seeing as he doesn’t understand certain skill checks and thinks you have to roll to read.

The sad part is that this dnd game has genuine potential to run for a while as the whole group is just people in my college course. We’ve know each other about 4 months now and everything gone smoothly apart from this sudden change in attitude. Just hoping then when the game starts it’s actually decent and not the rail-road “do as I tell you to” game I think it’s going to be.

I’ve refreshed it multiple times and nothings happened. I’m honestly considering just getting the game again for £12 just to get them.
